Default Wifi vs. Ethernet Cable Speeds?

I've had my PS3 hooked up via Wifi since I've owned it and never really had any problems. Online play is solid and even downloads are decent. Does anybody recommend switching to Ethernet connection instead if you are within reach of your router?

I use a Wireless G router. Figured since PS3 doesn't support Wireless N, then there was no point of an N router. If i were to go the ethernet route, what cables can you suggest and would I see a benefit over my current setup?

when dealing with a constant connection (online gaming)....go with WIRED

the laptop is cool wireless because you load a webpage then until you click something again there is no data being transmitted.

and if you got wireless N router and used it as wireless G, your signal range would be farther

I had the ps3 wireless when I first got it. The infrequent/rare disconnects pissed me off, so I ran cat5 from my office to my living room. It is soooooo much better. Firmware downloads were literally twice as fast. If you can, go wired, its so much better.

I had wireless then went wired.

The reason I went wired is because I upgraded my router and internet services which led me to move the router on the main floor and the PS3 was upstairs.

Terrible download speeds and online sucked when I moved the router, so I decided to go wired and have not regretted it.

I had wifi problems with my ps3. I have a gigabit ethernet in my home and all gaming systems and other network devices are plugged into it wired. If you can reach it, I say go wired. My house was prewired in every room for it so it works for me. I still use wireless for my laptops.
