I've had my 5300 about three or four months now and I seem to be having playback issues with it. At first it was mainly DVD's that suffered I've gone through four seasons of Supernatural with it and around season two the sound began to cut in and out whn you'd select an episode instead of when you select play all. Sometimes the menus don't even display at all. If you pushed enter on the remote it was like the menu had changed but the picture on the screen had not. The menu screen sound cuts in and out.
Yesterday I played Robin Hood on BD it was fine for about five minutes then the picture started to jump then the picture froze completely. The firmware is up to date. I bought the player from HMV as part of a bundle with six films to start my collection off (now it feels like false economy). I've been happy more or less with the player but it's getting on my nerves now. Also when you rewind or fast forward the picture is choppy even at slower speeds with DVD's (I thought it would be smooth) it's worse than my Sony DVD player which is nearly ten years old or my Toshiba DVD player. Has anyone experienced similar problems? I'm trying to remember where the receipt for the bloody thing is lol. I know it's silly but I'd be gutted about taking it back and loosing the 6 free films even if one of them is Mamma Mia! and another Bruno... |

i own this player. I updated the firmware due to avatar. It does crash quite a bit...more on stuff like avatar which i presume have bigger data/disc layers to sort through. Just eject and reinsert the disc normal resolves the problem well has done for me on every occassion. it is annoying but it only does it every now and then and pressing an eject button twice and resuming from where the film left off isn't too much of a problem for me.
I think it might just be a load problem that sometimes occurs. hope i've helped. Also note:- the c5500 region free code does work on this player. But doesn;t seem to allow you to play all region blu rays. Only dvds. I've got a post elsewhere asking if there is another code to use, i will come back if there is ![]() |

I have this Blu Ray player also from the HMV and even though it is up to date I have been plagued with the player crashing 22 minutes into any BD and it has done so for over a year and I can't find a fix.

Just got a new Samsung smart bluray player. After having installed everything by the book it loos nice - the smart hub is there, with a web browser. The player gets input ftom a cable tv coming in house in through 100 mb/s optical fiber internet which in the house continues through modem/router about 30m RJ45.(hard wired LAN Cat5). Out from bd player goes of course a hdmi cable into a hdmi port in a HD Samsung TV.
Problem: When I pick up a youtube clip , in particular in HD, the player does not manage - it choppes the video and sound, mostly sound, after 5-7 seconds, start7stop - as it would be reloading or buffering or did not have power enough. The same is true if I play a regular DVD it gets scaled up to hdmi and goes on the TV chopped as well ... What is wrong? Thx. |
