Default acoustical panels on ceiling.

Hey guys,
Does anybody have any advice on how to mount 2x4 panels on the ceiling? They are wood framed with fiber glass insulation and weigh about 10lbs. I used 1x2`s for the frames. Other than nailing, which i think would be a pita and don`t want to do, i`m not sure what type of fasteners to use.

Thanks.

Morning MAL.

Here is what I did
Frames I built for my ceiling panels

I used a flat metal bracket & screwed it to the back of the frame & then used a sheetrock screw into the ceiling . Here are the bracket & sheetrock screw

I have one at each end of the 2x4 panel & my panels are about 5 pounds so you may want to have 2 on each end for the extra weight

Good idea Brent. I just built a bunch of new panels and fortunately i haven`t wrapped them yet. I don`t have any cross members in them and will need to add those in order to do what you have done.

Thanks buddy!

I have a contoured "popcorn" ceiling so i'm not sure i'd ever be able to do something like that. Then there's the WAF!!!

Lee ~ as far as the cross members are concerned, I put them there for support. I new that the panel in the middle would probably sag hanging from the ceiling. before I wrapped the material around it I used a needle & thread & secured the panel to both of the cross members. They do not sag at all & have been hanging a few months now !

Good luck with the project Lee DIY is the only way to go

I've been meaning to do what you did, Brent.

I might just do it now.
