Default Is there any way to prevent rampant abuse of the reviewer feedback system?

I started writing reviews for the site back in August. The more I review and write, the longer and more in-depth I get. My reviews usually take around two hours to write per BD to truly research and give proper feedback.

I noticed months ago how easy the system is to abuse. Someone could have a friend create an account and positive rank every review and at the same time if someone dislikes you for any reason, members can target you and give you a negative rank right down your list of reviews. The latter just happened to be sometime this morning, which is quite disheartening, and to be blunt, has me quite peeved.

Is there any way to prevent abuse of the review rating system or any changes planning to be implemented in the future?

Also, does anyone have the ability to track who the abusers are and punish them if needed? I noticed home theater ratings show who left feedback, but reviewer ratings do not.

Someone went down my list and downranked every single review I've written to date jw. How could that not be abuse?

Even on the opposite spectrum, what checks are in place to prevent positive ratings for every review from a fake account or friends account?

Are these things tracked such as with the home theater gallery ratings?

The biggest problem I have with review rating abuse is review ratings seem to figure heavily into next year's member title system.

How do you figure that? I would hope it is based on reviews submitted and NOT they way they are rated.

abuse it is then....Sorry

I would assume its your competition downrating your reviews to raise theirs, we had a complaint sometime back from another member and he thought that was what was going on

Haters are going to hate. No way around it.

Even members here with jaw dropping Home Theater equipment will get the same abuse at times.

Overall, glad they took down the thread ratings since there was someone who constantly gave another member a 1 star

You have to admit, though, that Mikejet deserves them!

I noticed it because I check every day when I log in, part of my routine. It does fluctuate +/- 1 usually, but this morning it dropped 15 points and I've written 15 reviews. Was very easy for me to catch.

jw, do you have the ability to track these things though? Not asking to know "who dunnit" but am curious overall since other feedback systems are tracked.

nope, nor do I want the ability to.
I believe iceman or marwin can answer this more adequately.
