Damn I love Amazon for the great deals and awesome shipping deals, but after reading this, about a book they refuse to remove from their library, I'm just not sure.

Sure the book is gross and imho wrong, but amazon is right in what they are saying. Plus having not read the book it could be about pedophiles and how they do what they do, and not in any way commeding or supporting there actions (wather discussign there mnentality), but is using this to try and get more free advertisment.

When I saw the thread title, I'll tell you my first thought (off topic sorry)

I know there are Sony "Fan-boys" and "PS3 Fan Boys" and Blu-ray Fan Boys, or whatever it may be.... and I never understood these people...... (A fan boy being something way different from someone who really likes something..... more or less someone who refuses to see the bad in what he/she likes, and tries to find the bad, or "creates" the bad in other things.... like "I like Sony, so I'll trash everything Toshiba makes" for instance)

Anyways.... With that said.... I'm about as much of an Amazon Fan-Boy as it gets!!!!

Agreed. There will always be material that offends someone's senses / sensibilities, but if you're an advocate of free speech / protecting the First Amendment, then all speech has to be protected: good, bad and everything in between. I'm not advocating the material in question (which I find reprehensible), but the author has a voice (as do I), and we should both be allowed to express them without fear of reprisal.

correct, Amazon has a legal standpoint to defend(violating the civil rights of another) and an ethical or moral standpoint (a guide to pedophilia). I believe once the guy was charged for breaking a law, they acted. I applaud them for being more than fair here even though it wasnt exactly a good decision. We as consumers, dont have to but it and its not like it popped up when you searched sesame street, If you are searching pedophilia. you have more to worry about than what Amazon is selling. I am sure there is some group out there who is offended by this or this, yet its still available. I can honestly say I never searched them nor was aware until some moron tagged them as Steelbooks on AMZ

Florida police have arrested the author of the controversial online book, The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover's Code of Conduct.

Philip R. Greaves II, 47, was busted in Colorado after he allegedly mailed a $50 autographed copy of his book to undercover cops in Florida, giving them the authority to lay charges.

Greaves was picked up at his home in Puelbo, Colo., on a third-degree felony warrant charging him with distribution of obscene material depicting minors engaged in conduct harmful to minors.

"I thought the book was outrageous," ABCNews.com quotes Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd at a press conference Monday. "That someone would pen a how-to manifesto to sexually batter very young children.

"He did this in a manner that he talked about safe sex, avoiding injury to the child. He talked about grooming and preparing a child for sex."

The book gives advice to pedophiles on how to make sex with children as safe as possible and includes first-person accounts of encounters.

Greaves' book was the subject of online protests and Amazon.com stopped selling it in November after the company was threatened with boycotts.

Judd is working on having Greaves extradited to Florida from Colorado, a move the accused author can fight.

"My goal is for him to eat processed turkey in the Polk County Jail on Christmas," he said.
