Default Advice on this setup

Hello, all. I've been lurking here for a year or so, and I finally decided to purchase some speakers. I figured I should sign up so I can get some questions answered and a few recommendations maybe.

Basically I'm looking to spend about $1000 (which I know I'll end up spending more). I'm looking for some floorstanding, a center, and a sub for now. Next year I'm moving, so I figured I'd keep things light for now. Eventually I plan on doing a full 7.1 system. The items I have on my list so far are:

Klipsch rf-42 II

Klipsch rc-42 II

Klipsch KW-100

Denon 791

That's what I picked so far. Should I stay with Klipsch or go with Energy? Is what I picked overkill? Please let me know.

Thanks!

Seems to me that you did your homework!

* That is a very nice setup you selected there!

{Klipsch & Denon: that's a good matching 'sound combination'}

To be honest I am a big ole Klipsch fan and I think you should stick with Klipsch for your surrounds. In the past I have stated that any surrounds can be used since they really are used for sound effects and ambient sound, but I have always timbre matched all the way around.

I’m not sure which energy speaker your thinking about getting, but all I ever hear about energy speakers is the laid back sound they produce, which is the opposite of your Klipsch speakers.

I wouldn’t have gotten that 10” subwoofer, I would have gotten the Klipsch sub-10

Great combo! The Klipsch speakers are dynamic and bright but the Denon reciever is on the warm side to tame the speakers! Excellent choice

I would keep what you have and build off of it, then at least everything will be closer matched.

Upgrading speakers now gets very difficult, either you stay with the same line you have or mix and match or just change everything in one go. I just would never be able to convince myself to do a complete upgrade of speakers anymore due to the cost so I add and keep with the brand I have.

I'm thinking about going with the AVR-591 instead of the 791. I really don't need a 7.1 setup right now, and i've looked at the features and it appears that the 591 will fit my needs for now.

That is why you should look forward & get something that supports 7.1 ! If you go with something that only supports 5.1 then you will have to buy another receiver down the road to get your 7.1 .....

Even if you don't do 7.1 right now, you will be ready to when you want Too

+1, try as best as possible to "future-proof" yourself. This will save you more money in the long run. Take it from me.

What is the price difference you have found between the two?
