I'm sick of the garbage that goes on in the Amazon marketplace for sellers. Amazon protects the buyers to the core but has even LESS protection for sellers than Half.com and ebay have.
Amazon requires that you accept returns even if the customer just doesn't like the item or decides against it after purchase. Basically I have to eat costs of shipping and losing the premium on a product if the buyer has a change of heart on a whim. Total garabage. I have a customer buy an expensive sealed boxset from me and then before it even arrives says he wants a refund because "it is not as described". total bullsh!t. and of course Amazon is going to back them because we are required to accept returns or amazon can do a chargeback. This is the absolute last time I deal with amazon marketplace as a seller. Unless I'm protected I have no desire to every get taken advantage of their by scamming sellers. |

I quit Ebay because of their BS and after reading stories about Amazon decided they were no better. If I have something to sell now, it goes up on Craigslist. I meet the person in a stripmall parking lot, that by coincidence has a police substation in it. If the person doesn't have cash in crisp $20 bills, I walk away. No dealing with packing or shipping and if the deal goes bust, there's a McDonald's so I can get a McRib and a milkshake. Which coincidentally is also my celebration for a successful sale.

Having some experience with anime shopping online I know there's room for confusion. I've checked out anime listings on Amazon and found some to be listed in the wrong place. Some sellers list Japanese editions and sometimes even ornately-packaged-but-actually-pirated products on the page for the US SKU of the anime set. Pirated items have no business being sold on Amazon. Import items are OK, but they should be listed on different pages from the US versions and billed as different SKUs. In a similar vein, many anime sets are reprinted using different styles of packaging. I've known times where a single series went from DVD cases, to a Thinpack, to a book style case.
That being said, I don't know what your item was versus what the buyer thought it would be, but I do know possible sources of ambiguity. When I buy anime from ebay or amazon, I check the seller's profile and item description from keywords, and I always give fair scores afterwards. I've had to ask ?s at times about late shipping items, but so far, I've never Negged any seller. |
