SEPT. 5 | DENVER—Blu-ray Disc set-top players within the last 12 weeks have begun out-selling HD DVD set-top players, according to recent NPD Group research cited by Sony Electronics. Sony touted the reversal of HD DVD’s long-running stand-alone dominance during its Wednesday press conference at CEDIA. Sony VP Chris Fawcett declined to provide exact market share percentages of the two sides. He said the change occurred mostly due to the introduction of Sony’s $499 player. |

I would believe it. The Toshiba 1080i player might be the best seller, but the combined efforts of all blu-ray players including PS3 can be really possible.

Ive been predicting this since the s300 couldnt keep up with demand at our retail location. Hd ded sits on the shelf and s300 is always sold out. The hd dvd fanboys are going to try to spin this, probably try to somehow lump ps3 or something lame.

It seems they all run up an grab a free cup of price Kool-aid whenever anything gets announced that isn't a dirt cheap piece of crap. We need a rediculously cheap player that doesn't sell too? Gary |

Returned it for a PS3 and never looked back. The PS3 is just incredible. only fault I find with it is the lack of 7.1 analog audio output. so i'm missing the uncompressed audio (for now). |

Blu-ray: 55% HD DVD: 43% Dual: 2% Thankfully, as well as HD DVD's marketshare diminishing, looks like dual format players aren't catching on either... Samsung and LG might as well can their dual players now, before they waste money on a production run. |
