Default Small Problem

Hey there, my family finally upgraded our cable to HD but there's a slight problem due to our previous set up:

The non-HD cable box used a Coax cable for sound and so that was somehow programmed on the receiver so that it automatically gets used (Coax 3 input). With the HD cable box we're using an Optical cable and so we have to continually change the input on the receiver by going up to it and pressing a button until Optical 2 gets selected... and then when it is turned off and back on it goes back to Coax 3. How do i change it so that Optical 2 will always get selected?

What's the brand & model # of your receiver?

Sounds like you need to go into your receiver's setup menu & assign optical 2 to the cable box input, then store/save the changes.

I agree with Zippo, get stuck into the branching menu of your receiver to specify optical only.

If you don't like reading manuals, always learn the minimum ..as in... The reset feature to default the receiver (if you mess things up).

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I've been busy these last few days.

I actually haven't been able to access my receiver's menu in a few years () ever since we switched to an HD tv. Perhaps there isn't a video cable going from the receiver to the tv?

As for the model, it's a NAD T762, so it's not an HD receiver.

Got a copy of your manual from this site. Will read through it as should you

http://audio.manualsonline.com/manua...onal/t762.html

Page 13 onwards, or make note of this part of the manual.

FACTORY RESET
The HTR-2 can be reset to its factory state, deleting all learned commands, copied and punched-through
keys, macros, and other setup information, reverting all keys to their pre-programmed library commands. To
perform a factory reset simultaneously press-and-hold for 10 seconds the HTR 2’s [ON] and [RTN] keys; the
Learn LED will start to flash green. Release [ON] and [RTN] before the second flash is complete; the Learn
LED will turn red, indicate the remote has been reset.
NOTE: You must release [ON] and [RTN] before the second flash goes out, otherwise the unit will not
reset; should this occur, repeat the full procedure.
