One of Disney's best from the last decade, right behind Lilo & Stitch and The Princess and the Frog for me. I think it'll be a while 'til we see it though, unfortunately, but we should see it nonetheless.

Disney does not seem to think much of this film, given the sparse promotion it has received on home video. They have been very stingy with their less popular animated movies on Blu-ray.

That's a good observation. With the success of Pixar amd how well their blu-rays have sold, it seems to have encouraged Disney to release their animated classics and more recent successes much quicker than we ever saw with DVD (or VHS for that matter). Remember how slow the trickle was - 2 releases a year - Spring and Fall - but although the trend continues we are beginning to see more than just two now. Blu-Ray and the rigid standards of quality commited to Hi Def transfers seems to be a catalyst here driving Disney to move forward quickly. The Emperor's New Groove may not be on their shortlist - but it will not be forgotten either.

As anyone still waiting for Hunchback, Treasure Planet or Hercules knows, Disney still has old traumas about their entire '95-'04 canon of animateds between Pocahontas and Home on the Range inclusive, and still believes the audience wants to hear no more of them--
Even Lilo & Stitch, Tarzan and Mulan, which were outright hits, are passed off as "box-office flops" because it would otherwise break up the historical era.

....It's a long, slow step to recovery for the studio.
(You should hear some of the animators trying to reassure the others, "No, really, Tangled was a HIT!--Get over it already!")

Many of them were very good, but Disney is all about the megasellers now. Anything less than stellar sales is not worth their time in their perspective.

I am definitely hoping to see this one soon, along with Lilo and Stitch. I don't get why they aren't releasing any of there late renaissance, 2000 releases (aside from Fantasia 2000, of course).

For what it's worth it did receive TWO DVD releases, and a "sequel".

And a television series, if I remember correctly.

For me, any of these movies from 1995 to 2004 released on Blu-ray would be fine, as I happen to like them all, I don't care where they start.

And rightfully so, as this is the WORST Disney animated film they ever made. They certainly don't need to waste their time/money resurrecting this POS with all of the other great films currently unavailable on blu.

Excuse me, but WTF? Have you ever watched this with a packed room? You may not care for it, but it is one of the Disney films that has turned into a massive cult movie among a slightly older crowd. I just watched the old DVD with a roomful of people from early the 20s to late 60s and the whole place was convulsed with laughter. I've loved this film from its first release as one of Disney's most easy-going and WB-aimed films, and it remains one of their most consistently hilarious movies—intentionally. I've put forward that it is The Big Lebowski of kids' movies, and other people smile and say, "Hell yeah, I love that film!" Bad Llama!
