Australia Salt dts hd defect

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the dts hd master audio track in Salt? At about 3 minutes 30 seconds in popping sounds start coming out of all my speakers and lasts for about 30 seconds. It only occurs when dts hd master audio is being decoded but does not occur when the audio is being decoded in PCM.

I had a similar problem but at different times in the movie. Twice there was about 10 seconds of popping coming from the speakers. This was whilst I watched the extended cut. Has never happened with any other DTS HD MA soundtracks and my Panasonic BD 60 has the latest firmware. Off to JB Hi Fi for a replacement disc

It happened again last night with the replacement copy, at about 40 minutes in this time. I only tested the scene where the problem occurred with my 1st copy yesterday when I posted up that the problem was no longer there. Since it hadn't happened to anyone else I thought it was my equipment so I spent 5 hours last night trying to fix. I cut back all my speaker wires, completely unplug and removed all of the cables from my receiver and rearrange them to make sure none them were touching the back of it, I also did a memory clear on my receiver and returned my blu-ray player back to it factory settings then recalibrated them both, but after all that the problem is still there.

The problem has happened in the directors cut of both of the copies I've had. I am using a Panasonic blu-ray as well (model dmp-bdt300) which also has the latest firmware installed. Let us know if it happens with your replacement copy.

Sounds like that DTS Bomb AnimeOnBlu mentioned. Might need to update the firmware on your amp (if there is one, probably need an authorized service agent to do it). I know theres an update for my amp, but I need to take it to Auckland to get it done, due to the specialized connection plug needed.

I've got the last firmware update available for my receiver installed, I had it done only a couple of months ago due to an hdmi issue I was having. There was only ever 1 software update released for my receiver in Australia which was in early 2008 but there was 2 released for it in the States. It could be 'dts bomb' but I would rather explore other reasons first before I jump to that conclusion especially because this issue has never happened before and someone else has now had the same thing happen with their copy of salt, also while using a Panasonic blu-ray player. If it turns out that my receiver does in fact suffer from dts bomb, it would almost be doing me a favour because it would either be replaced with a brand new model by Sony (Sony's current flagship equivalent retails for $3999au) if the issue can't be fixed or I would be given what I paid for it in store credit from Harvey Norman under their extend warranty agreement. There are some damn good receiver's available now with even better specs for the same price I paid for my current receiver back in 2008.
