Default The Majestic

'The Majestic' currently holds the spot as my favorite re-watchable movie. And I'd really rather see it in high def on Blu-ray than on DVD. Granted, the DVD version looks fairly decent in an upscaling player, but that means it could look that much better in native 1080p.

'The Majestic' was released in December 2001 and was a box office disappointment. According to IMDB, it cost about $72 million to make and through the end of its theatrical run (March 2002) it had only made about $28 million. Not sure how well it did on home video.

Obviously, there are a LOT of people that have never seen 'The Majestic'. I find that sad, as I feel it is Jim Carrey's best performance to-date (I haven't seen 'I Love You Philip Morris' yet). I've shown the DVD to many friends that tell me they "hate Jim Carrey movies" (once I convinced them that it's not like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective), and all of those friends LOVED it. But it was literally like pulling teeth to get them to watch the movie.

Since this year is the 10th Anniversary of the release of 'The Majestic', I am hopeful that Warner Bros. will decide to release the movie on Blu-ray. In fact, it seems due for a re-release on home video because you can't even buy the DVD from Amazon right now, it's out of stock. (Maybe that portends a forthcoming home video re-release?) But, to help "convince" Warner Bros. to release 'The Majestic' on Blu-ray, about every 3-4 months, I've been sending them little reminders.

If anyone else would like to join me in encouraging Warner Bros. to release 'The Majestic' on Blu-ray, please use this link:

Thank you in advance to anyone that takes the time to petition Warner Bros. for a release on Blu!

Mark

44 views and no comments. I guess I'm alone in my love for 'The Majestic'.

I have the DVD version and it's a very entertaining film, I don't think enough viewers appreciate it perhaps even the studio itself. Jim Carrey was excellent in this film and you would have to think eventually this will get a Blu-ray release but who knows it can be had cheap on DVD. If they use that theatrical poster on the Blu-ray that has from The Director of "The Green Mile", "The Shawshank Redemption" it would sell if someone picked it up saw Jim Carrey and Frank Darabont who is known more for those films. Warner Bros. has plenty of selling points with this title, perhaps make it an exclusive someplace and test the waters before releasing it everywhere.

Such an underrated movie. Hopefully we do get an anniversary edition on blu-ray this year.

i liked this movie , but i wont upgrade it in blu. not because it isnt good, its a VERY good one, its just not one of my favorite. it deserve a bluray release.

i would have wanted bruce campbell to play the whole black and white movie instead of just a scene (we were lucky enough to get the scene anyway) it was brilliant.
