I thought it would be fun to post this list in a thread and ask some questions, which are listed below.

How many of these are in your collection?

These numbers do not surprise me. They're all immensely popular movies with quality BD releases.

I own 17 out of the 20 :
[Show spoiler]
The Dark Knight (BatPod Display Case )
Iron Man
Batman Begins
Transformers
Star Trek
300 (Ultimate Experience Edition)
The Incredible Hulk
I Am Legend (kept DVD steelbook though)
Quantum of Solace
The Departed
Watchmen (Director's Cut)
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (part of the POTC box set)
Inglourious Basterds (UK Limited Edition)
District 9 (UK Steelbook)
Blade Runner
I, Robot
Terminator Salvation

There's probably a bunch of movies I would have thought should be up there; right now only "Inception" comes to mind. Maybe it'll catch up later.

yeah Inception, Avatar and other big movies will catch up soon. The newest movie on the list has been out over a year so it takes time for a most to make top 20.

Because our membership is overwhelmingly North American based (U.S. & Canada) it stands to reason that this list contains only Hollywood films. I wonder how the list would look if our European friends and members were in the majority.

And something else that's amazing is only 7 of them are original ideas. The rest are adaptations from books, comics, and TV.

17 out of 20. Not bad.

It really doesn't surprise me at all, pretty much all of these movies have great PQ/AQ plus at least 13 of them at some point had been priced at $10 or lower.

+1

I would also consider AVATAR, BRAVEHEART, and maybe SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION as other surprises as well

I'm sure in no time, STAR WARS will TOP that list in days

I have 8 of them.
(Iron Man, Up, The Incredible Hulk, Ratatouille, Cars, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, District 9, and Blade Runner.)

No interest in the others.

Interested to see how this changes over time...

It is sad to see movies like Transformers on the list, IMO.

Can't think of anything off the top of my head that I thought would have made the list. Though I guess if more people cared about sound, Akira. I thought there might have been enough audiophiles to get that one on there, but I knew it was a stretch.

I would like to see a feature where you go in and check off a movie every time you watch. Then we could see Top 20 viewed each year rather than Top 20 owned.

Owned means it's in your collection. Viewed means you actually watch it. I think that's a better guide.

Just because something is in the Top 20 most owned, it doesn't mean it's in many Top 20 favorites. It just means it's good enough to own. That's why most of the Top 20 are mostly popular and contain established actors.

I own 18 of the 20, but I only watched five or six of them in the past year.
