Wow. I've been hoping for this for a long time. There are few films that truly have replay value. This is one of the few I could watch once a week. Easily.

Wait, this is coming out on Blu-ray in the UK? Any chance the USA will get a Blu release?

*And so ends my crazed thread posts. Well impressed with Sainsbury's prices. Shame they don't show up on http://www.cheapbluraymovies.co.uk

Amazon are actually showing the release date as 9th September, which is a Friday. It should be 19th September.

I compared some caps from the Criterion release and they're both almost on par but I'd say Arrow has a slight edge but not by much.

Dailyan I'm interested, you've compared some caps, but what about actually watching the movie for real, Arrow Vs Criterion. Are there any meaningfull differences, please?

Actually, I watched the Arrow yesterday and it looked fine in-motion. I never owned the Criterion, so I can’t say, but from the caps it looks fine enough. The Arrow release is a fine alternative for Region B locked folks that want to ditch the old Uni disc.

I own the Criterion, bought the Arrow as well (because I love the movie) and just quickly (!) compared both. Basically both look exactly the same. Comparing caps, the Criterion looks a tad better where I compared.

You're welcome.

Here are two caps:

Criterion | Arrow

1.

2.

I didn't bother doing more, because I really don't care with that kind of difference. But as I said: If I go pixel peeping, Criterion wins with both IMO. *

* You'll find the exact same caps at caps, because I just quickly compared my Arrow with caps' caps earlier on, but I just grabbed the according shots from my Criterion BD as well to post a "proper" comparison.

It'll be nice to get rid of the 2011 Universal disc for this.

Unfortunate that they couldn't match a 7yr old Criterion encode.
