Panorama release. Much cheaper than the Japanese version. Should be pretty equal in quality as Panorama does a solid job on its releases.

Just got my copy of the Japanese DVD.

Subtitles are in the black space at the bottom of the frame which is great. The action is measured up to the end when it explodes on the screen. Takashi Kitano is superb in his roll. Will not give the plot away, but be ready to hit the back button occasionally to catch some of exactly what is going on, and to figure out who is shooting or blowing up who. Just gained a whole lot more respect for the Yakuza in Japan after watching this 103 minute film.

I also have the Japanese bluray version. Story is very complicated and centers around a lot of back-stabbings, power-struggles and betrayals. After watching this film, I can understand the money and power that is gained by being on the top. But I really cannot fathom how an oyabun (boss) can live without looking over his shoulder every single second and knowing your so-called "kobun" will be the one who'll plot his downfall.

I def liked this film, I assume the PQ on this is pretty nice? I shall have to import this one soon if I can find an okay price.

Default Takeshi Kitanos "Outrage / Autoreiji". Which version?

I see that this film is released in both Japan and Hong Kong with english subs. Which release is the one to get, and where do I buy it. The japanese release costs 60$ (!!!!!) on yesasia.com. Thats damn expensive. Hong Kong-release is priced at 33$.

Go for the HK version. Cheaper and it shouldn't be that much different in the PQ department compared to the Japanese release. Panorama usually ports the Japanese disc, and does some compression to fit it on a BD25.

Default Outrage

Brought and watched this over the weekend. It is two discs with the extras on DVD. Anyway, the picture quality is quite good. It's idefinitely worth getting this Panorama's release.

Has anyone seen any comparison of the HK and Japanese disk vs. the new optimum release in the UK?
