SARAH Michelle Gellar’s new CBS pilot Ringer is an “edgy thriller” — according to its producer.

Peter Traugott spoke to Entertainment Weekly magazine about the project.

“It’s an edgy thriller about redemption and about revenge,” he said.

“There’s a point of view of two twin sisters who grew apart over a tragedy in their past. And one now seeks redemption and the other one seeks revenge.”

Traugott explained that one twin, Bridget, will assume her sister Siobhan’s life following her death in a boating accident.

“Sarah’s playing both roles,” he confirmed. “[Bridget is] living the life of her more successful sister only to come to find out that her life is equally as fraught with danger and complication.”

Peter also revealed that the show will explore Siobhan’s life before her death, comparing the storytelling approach to legal drama Damages.

Former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Gellar has previously been blamed for 50,000 women abandoning traditional Western religion to study paganism.

Yeah and the awful Scooby Doo movies killed the careers for all that was in these movies

Does it got good chances to get picked by the network for a long running show?

I really liked his character on the last season of 24.

Richard Shepard, who won an Emmy for directing the pilot of ABC's Ugly Betty, has come on board to direct another hourlong pilot with a female lead, CBS' Ringer starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Ringer, written on spec by Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder, centers on a troubled young woman (Gellar) who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister. Shepard's gig on Ringer stems from his overall deal at CBS TV Studios, which produces the pilot. This is WME-repped Shepard's second pilot this season; he also directed CW's Danni Lowinski. Shepard previously helmed the pilots for CBS' Criminal Minds and its upcoming spinoff Criminal Behavior.

Really liking how casting is shaping up so far for this show.

Lost alum Nestor Carbonell is set to co-star opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in the CBS drama pilot Ringer. The project centers on troubled young woman Bridget (Gellar) who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her wealthy twin sister, until she learns that her twin’s life has a bounty on it as well. Carbonell, repped by Paradigm and Thruline, will play an FBI agent in charge of keeping Bridget safe so she can testify against the mob who tracks her down and gets to know her "sister."

Ioan Gruffudd To Star In 'Ringer'

Fantastic Four alum Ioan Gruffudd is set to star opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar in the CBS drama pilot Ringer. The project centers on troubled young woman Bridget (Gellar) who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her rich twin sister, Siobhan, until she learns that her twin’s life has a bounty on it as well. Gruffudd will play Siobhan's wealthy, well-traveled and cultured husband Andrew who senses something different about his wife. Also cast in Ringer is Mike Colter as Bridget's AA sponsor, joining previously cast Nestor Carbonell. Welsh-born Gruffudd is best known for his role as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four franchise. Colter has done an arc on CBS' The Good Wife.

His character description makes me sigh though, I mean come on, you can't tell the difference in your wife and her sister because they are twins? Not EVERYTHING is exactly identical lol.

The project centers on troubled young woman Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who, while on the run from the mob, hides out by inhabiting the life of her rich twin sister, Siobhan, until she learns that her twin’s life has a bounty on it as well. Summers will play Siobnah's best friend.
