I am considering purchasing a Denon DVD-A1UDCI only because I can pick it up for less than $1,000 and it still has warranty. http://usa.denon.com/us/Product/Page...f-8da0f4de0482 I would be getting rid of my Marantz BD8002. It is in the area of audio where I need your thought... If one's receiver is doing all the work and the player is only streaming, does it really matter the quality of DACs and processing in the player vs another if they are pretty good to begin with? Would changing over from my Marantz to the Denon (which has better DACs and processing) give me any noticeable audio improvement to make the purchase worth it? There definitely was a difference when I changed over from my Marantz SR7002 receiver to Denon's 5308 but would there be by swapping out players? I know this is something that should be tested to see if there is a difference but I can't test it. Once I purchase, I own and the Denon can't be returned if there isn't a noticeable difference. So, I am asking an experts opinion before doing anything. . |

There is no question that the Denon players has a few advantages over the Marantz player. I have summarized the differences in the following table:
Is it worth $1,000? It is a question that you will have to answer. If SACD/DVD-A, BD-Live, and Bragging Rights ![]() I believe the new Oppo BDP-93 at $499 is a better alternative. Last edited by Big Daddy; 01-27-2011 at 08:51 PM. |

Once again you have helped. From your chart, looks like audio is equal. All the other stuff is not that important to me except maybe the Ethernet connection. Oppo?? Interesting? I have been reading the posts regarding the player. You think the Oppo's audio can be better or equal to the Marantz? Also, does a player really help in audio if the receiver is doing the work? |

The Oppo BDP-93 is probably better than Marantz. There is a new Oppo BDP-95 due in February 2011 for about $1,000 that may be better than the Denon. Last edited by Big Daddy; 01-27-2011 at 10:03 PM. |
