According to one of the user reviews, this one should work with your TV: Xpand Universal X103 3D Glasses http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00462RMS6. Though, it seems adult size only.
For kid size, I'm only aware of Panasonic's own: Panasonic TY-EW3D2SU http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049MPR3U

I wonder if others have had problems with 3D glasses Panasonic TY-EW3D10E that comes with their televisions two pairs of 3D glasses broke in exactly the same spot for two couples cracked, broken frames with minimal use. The frames are very thin and flexible set up and keep glasses.

Since the idea of 3D projection is beginning to gnaw away at the "I need" portion of my brain I have been reading everything I could find on the subject. As a satisfied customer of the Panasonic 3000 projector I am very inclined to go with the 7000 for 3D. Since I wear glasses and certainly want a comfortable viewing experience, I have looked favorably on the Xpand X103 Universal Active Shutter 3D Glasses. (It doesn't hurt that they are cheaper as well.) My basic question is to those that may already have experience with this combination. Do they work well together and do the devices work well over prescription glasses? Over the years it seems that I have accumulated a room full of things that never worked as advertised or planned. As I have grown older I have found that reaching out to those with more experience has saved me both time and money. Since this forum appears to have a plethora of such individuals, I will expose my ignorance and ask for opinion and help on the subject.

You can get alternatives to panasonic glasses and any other make on Ebay. These are being made by companies in china and are quite reasonable in price. I purchased some from a seller called tool nerd who is based in China. The glasses are rechargeable and have a function that searches for the tvs 3d signal and then sync themselves to your tv. The 3d picture is great but a little bit darker than the panasonic glasses. For a £100 cheaper you can't complain. Just go on Ebay put in search for Panasonic 3D glasses and you will find loads there that are compatible.

According to Dimensional Optics, they will have panasonic compatible glasses available around the end of November 2011. I use their glasses myself (73" Mitsubishi) and like them. They are quite comfortable (At least for a head shaped like mine.....) although if there is light behind me, I put on a wide brim hat and pull is down over the back of my head to block the glare off the inside of the glasses. I also like the price of the glasses ($60). I don't have the cost of the new panasonic glasses, but you can go to their website and contact them. They're pretty good about getting right back to you.

Amazon lowered the price of a pair of the Panny 3rd gen to $115 for a brief time this morning. I think I got in, though I don't have a shipping confirmation yet. Amazon is sold out at this point unfortunately, but there's hope for another price drop. . .

I had a couple of friends over, and we were going to watch a 3D movie but the glasses that came with the TV wouldn't work. This is the type with a battery, not the USB rechargable type. Anyway, when I held down the on/off button, the red LED light blinked and that's all it would do. The first time, the red light blinked continuously for a long time but the glasses never came on. Does that mean I need to replace the battery?

Possibly. How often have you used the glasses? I had to replace the batteries recently after approx. 13 months of low usage (approx. one movie a month).

I've only used these glasses a couple of times since I got them. Maybe I left them on somehow? Things like this make me think maybe I should've held out for a passive set.

It’s because you are using active 3DTV. You need to recharge the batteries often. I wanted to watch a movie yesterday and faced similar problem like you did. This is the drawback of active 3DTVs.

I searched for this but didn't find anything pertinent so here goes.

My setup is as follows:

Panasonic 55ST30 and two pairs of Panasonic 3D glasses, model TY-EW3DM
PS3 Ultra slim set to bitstream
Pioneer Elite SC-25

PS3----->SC-25 via HDMI----->55ST30 via HDMI

Just for the heck of it I tried to see what Star Trek Into Darkness looks like in 3D. Note that my AVR cannot pass through 3D 1080p video. I bypassed the receiver and ran an HDMI cable from my PS3 directly to the side HDMI input on my TV. I put the blu-ray in and hit play. The first thing I notice is that I have no audio. I went into the TV menu and made sure the TV speakers were turned on and that I had the appropriate HDMI input set up to receive a digital audio signal through the HDMI cable. Nothing ever worked and I never could get sound. I also tried switching back and forth between bitstream and PCM in the PS3 with no luck.

The other problem I had was getting my 3D glasses to connect to the TV. It was when I skipped all the previews and got to the movie menu that the picture switched into 3D. My glasses wouldn't do anything. I flipped the TV off and back on and the glasses connected. The 3D looked good. I went into the TV menu to try to get sound again and after backing out of the menu the glasses had disconnected and would not reconnect. I tried turning the TV off and back on a couple of times and finally got the glasses to connect again only to lose the connection after about a minute. I went to the user's manual for the glasses and compared the blinking LED on the glasses to the description in the manual which indicates the glasses were in 3D mode and that the battery was sufficiently charged. When the glasses connected then both pairs were connected, and when they disconnected both pairs disconnected. This leads me to think that the issue is with the TV and that for some reason it's not sending out the appropriate IR signal for the glasses. I made sure the glasses were clean, both the lenses and the area where the IR receiver is located. I also made sure the area of the TV where the IR transmitter is located was clean.

When we first got this TV (it came with the glasses when we bought it) I tried playing a video game in 3D (my AVR can pass through 3D 720p video) and I had the same problem with the glasses. I gave up on it at the time and put the glasses away as I wasn't really interested in 3D at the time. I'm at a loss though. Is there a known issue with this TV and the 3D glasses or am I just the unlucky individual who got one that doesn't work right? I'm not sure if I'm out of the warranty period or not, but I would guess that I am. It's not the end of the world as I can live without 3D, but if it's something I'm overlooking I'd like to get it straightened out. I've been considering buying a Sony BDP-S790 so we can watch 3D blu-rays and still have surround sound, but if I can't get my TV to cooperate with the glasses then there's no point.

ETA: Here's a pic of my HT setup. The TV's IR transmitter is on the bottom of the TV frame. Is it possible that the center speaker could be interfering with it somehow? That wouldn't make sense to me, but stranger things have happened.

Update: I've been playing with it some more. I set up a temporary work-around setup in which I run the PS3 directly to the TV with an HDMI cable and then used an optical cable from the PS3 to my AVR for audio. It's not lossless, but it's still pretty good and it's certainly good enough to experiment with. I plugged the glasses in to charge just to see what happens. I let them sit plugged in maybe five minutes (the manual instructs to plug them into a USB port on the TV for 30 minutes for a full charge). I plugged one set into a USB port on the TV and the other set into a phone charger plugged into the wall. I unplugged them and now both pairs would connect every time I turned them on. Everything seems to be working great. This leads me to believe the batteries were really too low for use despite what was indicated by the flashing LED. So I'm watching Star Trek Into Darkness and jumping around from scene to scene. I'm going back and forth between the two pairs of glasses and everything seems good. My wife gets home and I give her a pair of glasses and we're both watching and are rather impressed. Then all of a sudden both pairs cut out at the exact same time. Granted they both sat plugged in for about the same amount of time, but it just seems really strange to me that they would both die at the exact same time. However, this was the longest I've ever been able to use the TV in 3D and it's the first time I've played with it where either pair of glasses (both pairs in this case) would readily connect every time I turned them off and back on. So continuing to experiment, I plugged both pairs back into the TV and let them sit about five minutes. I unplugged a pair and put them on and turned them on and nothing happened. I turned the TV off and back on and they connected immediately. I'm going to let them sit plugged into the TV and get the full half hour charge that's specified in the manual and try it again tomorrow. Hopefully the batteries were just dead and are making me look like an idiot over something simple. I still don't know why I would have had to turn the TV off and back on that last time though. Either way we'll see what happens tomorrow night when we try to watch Star Trek Into Darkness in 3D from start to finish. Hopefully all will go well.


I still don't know why I could never get audio through the TV's speakers though.

Can't see myself wanting to pay much more, given that, in the 3 years of owning the tv, I've never had the urge to watch anything in 3d; but i just bought that Werner Herzog cave paintings doc, & they say 3d is the only way to watch it.

Those 3D glasses should work fine for your situation.

If the 3D peaks your interest , there are about dozen or so very high quality IMAX style full screen 3D docs out there that would amaze you. There is.... Science , Space , Underwater , Animal , Nature & visits to more historical sites.

Bumping this back up; I did buy those glasses, & they worked fine, but the cheap mechanism broke on all of them eventually. I've since bought a few more 3d films (House Of Wax, Creature From The Black Lagoon, Dial M For Murder, It came from outer Space...all great fun), & am wondering if I should just buy the glasses that the tv (Pana 55 st-50) should have come with (annoying to learn that in other years Panasonic included the glasses, but not 2012):
