Default The Terminator PQ Help!

I've also read that the PQ of the American Blu-Ray for the first Terminator movie isn't good either. Is there one out there that does have excellent PQ and is playable on a Region A player?

Not that I know of, but they've been working on a remastered release. It was put on hold as a result of MGM's financial troubles, but seeing as all is well now, I'd imagine that they're working on it again.

Wish we'd get some sort of update on if this is planned for later this year or what. I heard The Abyss and True Lies are supposed to be released at some point later in 2011... but this is the one I want the most. The current BD doesn't have the original mono soundtrack and the 5.1 mix is good but not entirely faithful to the original film. The PQ is also a mixed bag.

I hope with MGM's troubles seemingly over we can get some kind of word on what time-frame to expect this. I sure hope sooner than 2012 or 4th quarter 2011...

The MGM/Fox (Region AB tested here) release looks great to me. I really hope they leave it as it is or it'll end up a right f***ing mess.

If you are a fan of the movie you must own it!

It's dirt cheap so decide for yourself.

That's a sample of comment on the picture quality. It's all down to the viewer's perception of what they aught to be getting.

It's certainly not bad though, and it is an improvement over the DVD (albeit a slight one). As member mayorofsmpleton stated, the real issue is that the disc lacks the original mono audio track (not to mention several bonus features) that were on the special edition DVD, and the the bastardized (remixed/remastered) PCM and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks sound nothing like it...When I bought the Blu and realized the mono track wasn't on there, I was so angry I threw it in the trash ...I'm staying with the special edition DVD myself, and will not likely repurchase "Terminator" even if/when it gets re-released on Blu. "T2" got re-released (the Skynet Edition), but it also got slapped with a solid dose of DNR, and I still personally think the orignal '06 release of that title looks better.
