Saw this tonight. What a beautiful film. Superb performances and direction. This is the most satisfying film John Cameron Mitchell has done yet. I wasn't that impressed by his previous efforts. Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart are just terrific here, and I also thought Miles Teller and Dianne Wiest gave great supporting performances. I wonder why there wasn't even a blip of awards buzz for Teller. And speaking of awards, it's a shame this isn't up for more than just Best Actress at the Oscars. It's one of the year's finest films and deserves to be seen by more people.

Not all new releases. Just certain movie studios. I got "The King's Speech" on Tuesday from Netflix. "Rabbit Hole" has been available on On Demand for a few weeks now, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Man this is such an under-seen gem. Heartbreaking, funny, hopeful. Amazing performances from everyone. Kidman at her best. Eckhart, Wiest, and Miles Teller all deserved awards recognition too. This is my favorite Miles Teller performance. Yes, I liked him better here than in The Spectacular Now. Would really recommend this film.

One of my favorite movies. The movie is about loss and different perspectives of how to embrace it.
It could go easily just dark and sad, but John Cameron Mitchell made it unexpectedly funny and truthful. Highly recommended. |
