Universal Pictures Home Entertainment had first announced what we should expect yet "another" crappy DTV sequel titled Blue Crush 2. Sooner later, we find out how their keeping things fair and square when they decide to release the original 2002 film starring the gorgeously sexy Kate Bosworth and Michelle Rodriguez.

This is sure to look and sound outstanding on Blu-ray. Great scenery all around and the Dolby 5.1 track found on the DVD was extremely effective.

I hope BC comes with a slip. I wouldn't want my future copy of BC2 to feel so...blue crushy.

i doubt it will. Catalog titles RARELY come with slips

Love, love, love this movie!

Was so pissed when I saw BC2 and the next day was relieved to see Blue Crush, haha. I can't wait! Glad it officially has a date.

I was just thinking i would love to pick this up on Blu-ray only to find out it's not out yet.

This is one of my favorite movies and i want to own it in HD.

In this particular case, you're probably right. But I've gotten a ton of slipcovers from catalog titles. Among them The African Queen, Apocalypse Now, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, Dances with Wolves, Stargate, Fight Club, and Apollo 13 - just to name a few.

Agreed...and Bosworth's tush will look glorious as well on blu-ray.

I was wondering if anybody knows where to get Blue Crush on Blu-Ray, none of the stores close to me seem to have it. Also if anybody bought it, hows the picture quality?

I got my Blue Crush today. I think there was a quality control mistake with this blu-ray. The video is not good. The contrast is all out of wack, the skin is all pasty, and I think there may be serious edge enhancement going on here. I don't have the DVD to compare, but the video does not even seem like an upconverted DVD. It looks like a regular DVD. This movie isn't that old nor does it need some serious remastering, I just think someone messed up with the video. I don't remember the video quality looking this strange in the theaters as well as on the DVD. I hope Universal has a replacement program for this title, because it's one of those blu-rays that's supposed to look as good as Point Break and Into the Blue. Those expecting great definition and texture in Bosworth's butt shots are going to be highly disappointed. Very weird.

It's $15 at Wal-Mart, but with all the bad word of mouth, it'll probably be cheaper before long. FYE is actually charging more than MSRP for it ($22).

They used a BD-50, so space was not an issue. Dumping the special features was a terrible decision. Also, if the video is that bad, everyone might as well keep/get the DVD, which can be had for less than a buck these days.

well I was also anticipating this title. But it looks like I'll hold on to my DVD copy w/special features until a proper transfer of this movie to Blu is available.
