Default Want Die Hard Boxset? You May Have To Buy LFODH Too...

Saw this over on the DVD Talk forum.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=964

Quote:
Don't know if it's been posted here yet, but the Blu-ray Die Hard pack IS going to include LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD now...albeit still the PG-13 version.

Die Hard Collection Blu-Ray (4 Discs)
SRP: $129.98

Street Date: 20/Nov/07

Disc 1: DIE HARD BLU-RAY
Disc 2: DIE HARDER BLU-RAY
Disc 3: DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE BLU-RAY
Disc 4: LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD BLU-RAY
Nothing has been confirmed from Fox yet.

Maybe Fox was reading all of the negative posts about nobody wanting to buy the PG-13 version of LFODH and said, "Want the other 3 Die Hard Movies? Now you have to buy the fourth".

At least Fox is giving us a price break on this set, since the average price of each film is "only" around $32.50 instead of the usual $39.99.

PG-13 can suck my arse. christ.

what the hell is the deal FOX?

and IF Fox DID read about the PG-13 issue, why the #€(%/#)/ then just not release the unrated one instead of a box set only of the first three?

Hopefully that's true. I was kind of wondering why the boxset didn't include all 4 especially since Live Free or Die Hard is supposed to be released at the same time.

Same here man. And most of these scenes they add back in are pointless and obvious. The Patriot pissed me off, I would've much rather had a Theatrical Cut on Blu-Ray than the extended cut. They used the same score cue 3 or 4 times in the movie, and then that ruined the scene it was actually meant for. I think there was only one scene that they added that I liked and thought was appropriate.

Also, for those who don't know why the Blu-Ray is getting the theatrical cut instead of the unrated cut, it's because they hadn't finished the unrated cut yet when they started manufacturing the Blu-Ray.

Kinda glad as well since it will probably give us a price break, plus it is silly having a box set with 3 films, then the fourth sitting byitself on the shelf. I think people are making way to much out of this PG-13/unrated cut. The PG-13 was plenty 'Die Hard' in the theater and not a single person has seen the so called 'unrated' cut. There is a big probability that it isn't much different than the PG-13 version. Hell Bruce Willis said himself that they went out and shot the film they wanted, no preconceived rating in mind, it just turned out to be PG-13. I bet this whole unrated thing is a studio PR stunt after the backlash of the lower rating.

It would be nice if Fox put out the box set and all the films individually. Best of both worlds.

Fox should release the Die Hard's as a box set and individually

1. It would be better for Blu Ray because some people who don't want all of them could buy them individually

2. Better for Fox

Buy the box set then sell the 4th individually. People are making a huge deal out of nothing. Until we know what the differences are between the theatrical & unrated versions, why badmouth it? Feels like I'm surrounded by kids who are ashamed to buy a movie based solely on the PG-13 rating, thus demand the unrated version...

Here's a tip for anyone out there - "UNRATED" DOES NOT MEAN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RATED R IN THE THEATERS!

Hey now . . . the unrated cut of Saving Silverman had some gems put back in it! Yeah, yeah, I know . . . but I love Jack Black. Anyway . . . I'm glad they're coming out with the box set. I do plan on picking up the unrated cut when it comes out, but I'd rather buy all of them for 80-90 bucks than pay for the box set plus the full price single. While I would prefer the unrated cut, the reasoning behind it not being available is believeable, and it was still a good movie.

Me too. Wait for the Quadrilogy as a boxset.

WILL EVERYONE PLEASE RELAX. DIE HARD 4 was PG 13 in theatres. IT WAS AWESOME. There is NO reason not to buy the BLU RAY version of the same film. People keep crying about something that hasnt even existed yet.

It wouldnt even be 5 or 10 minutes. Most "unrated movies add about a minute. It adds the word Fu*k a few times and a little more blood and thats it. If its available, then cool. If not relax and buy the movie youve already seen and enjoyed.

Here's a tip for anyone out there - "UNRATED" DOES NOT MEAN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RATED R IN THE THEATERS!
The Abyss, Aliens, The Lord of the Rings movies, Terminator 2, Star Trek The Motion Picture, Star Trek II, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind are examples of director's/extended cuts that I couldn't do without. I thought T2 was pretty stupid crap until the extended version came out.

And there were plenty of flaws in Die Hard 4 to not recommend it. Why didn't McClane ever bother to interrogate any of the terrorists? Why didn't he just kill the woman at least the 2nd or 3rd time he had a chance? How can a fighter pilot be incompetent to miss a tractor trailer multiple times on a freeway ramp? And where the heck was that piece of Interstate 695 and the Social Security building because nothing like them exists in the real world (yes I'm quite familiar with the area the movie finale supposedly occurred).

But I think people are understandably a bit pissed. First, there was the box art that clearly stated "Unrated". Then the fact that it is coming to DVD but not Blu-Ray. I'm also not really buying Fox's excuse that the Unrated cut wasn't finished in time, because wouldn't they have needed it done to do the DVD version so why was there time for a DVD version but not a Blu-Ray version?

Extended versions are different than unrated versions. Unrated versions are usually a deleted scene or two put back in. Not a big change. Extended versions where the cut footage was intended but the movie was too long for theater audiences, different situation.

And what are the chances the unrated version is going to fix those types of problems you had with the movie? No chance.

I believe that it's just a movie - not worth being pissed off. I have the unrated version of Talladega Nights. I don't know what the difference is, it's the same movie start to finish. Anyways, I still get the feeling concerning Die Hard, that it's none other than the PG-13 rating alone that's got a lot of the younger crowd pissed off.
