If anyone is interested I am from Massachussets and all of the FYE's and Movie Stops in my area just recently received shipments of Alliance BD titles. they are selling them for $14.99 a piece. Movie Stop sells them as used but they are in fact new I have confirmed this with a store employee who knew. I know some of thier titles are controversal in PQ and AQ but the ones I have picked up I have been pretty impressed with. Especially since all the ones I have seen have not been released in the US and have no street date currently announced. Here's a list of the one's I have seen.
The Butterfly Effect (Director's Cut even though it doesn't say it with DTS-MA 1080p) Trainspotting (International cut with DTS-MA 1080p) Final Destination 3 (Open matte but not cropped, I have compared it to my DVD and I can say I actually think the 2.35:1 ratio looks cramped by comparison, DTS-MA 1080p) From Dusk Till Dawn (DTS-MA 1080p) Final Destination 2 (I have not found this one in store but I ordered it from Amazon.ca to complete my set DTS-MA 1080p) Those are the ones I purchased however I have seen these in store. Swingers Sin City (Bare Bones) Se7en (weary of this one because it is 1080i and 1.78:1 instead of 2.35:1) Made Lucky Number Slevin The Cell Boiler Room Reindeer Games Kill Bill 1 Kill Bill 2 (I think these are exactly the same as the US releases) I can't remember anymore but those are the ones I have come in contact with. Not a bad price for movies we can't get in the US. No bonus features on any of the ones I bought but i can't complain about anything else. From Dusk Till Dawn has a very dynamic mix and the dialogue is soft and music loud but I seem to remember the DVD being the same way. I was psyched that The Butterfly Effect ended up being the director's cut since that version is far better than theatrical. Anyway that's all I got for you. I hope that helps someone out. ![]() |

Yeah I work at FYE in Oregon and we received a lot of Alliance titles the other day. Including Blade, Blade 2, Made, Seven, Lucky Number Slevin, Sin City, several others I can't quite remember. I'm sure there will be better releases for these titles down the road, but For 15 bucks it's not bad.

Okay, I did a search to see if this topic already exists and came up with nothing... so I apologize in advance if this is redundant of any existing threads out there.
I live in a suburb of Chicago, and I was doing some shopping at a local Meijer store earlier today, and was browsing through their movie section. And at an end-cap, the had a bunch of Alliance Blu-Ray releases, which I thought were only sold in Canada. What initially caught my eye was the packaging for Austin Powers in Goldmember. It had the same cover art as the DVD release from years ago (the cover art on the US Blu-Ray is different from the DVD). Then I looked at the side of the case, and say the Alliance logo, as well as the title in 2 different languages facing 2 different directions. Then I started looking at the other movies around it (there were a few copies of Goldmember like this amongst other titles... there wasn't really any sense of organization to the whole thing), and most, if not all of them were also Alliance releases. I know they had several copies of Elf, and there were several other titles, but the specific ones escape me. All of them seemed to be priced at $9.99 I know someone is going to come in here and say "pics or it didn't happen". Well, I didn't have a camera on me, otherwise I would have taken a pic. So, take this all with a grain of salt if you must, but I am not making this up. Has anyone else seen this at any other Meijer stores or at any other US retailer? |

It's likely that they may get their entertainment section stocked by iNetVideo, a Canadian company.
I know that iNetVideo supplies the bins/displays for multiple chains of stores up here in Canada, along with running iNetvideo.com, .ca and .co.uk. |

Well, some of these Canadian releases by Alliance are just repackages of US releases. 1408 is the U.S. disc. There's no indication of Alliance being labelled on the disc itself. Shaun of the Dead is the same disc as Universal's US Blu albeit it's disc has different design listing Alliance. I've picked up a few since Meijer's is a across the street from where I live and for $10 a pop, I'll gladly take the Canadian release of 1408 since I can't seem to find it anywhere in town.
