Default Need help with changing firmware version with a hex editor

Hey guys another member here, has locked his Toshiba BDX1100KB player to region A (firmware v50), he's got a region B (v50) player so his locked B discs won't work.

I've downloaded a hex editor and the newest firmware (region B V50) but I can't find the information in the file. The file was an .exe after you run it, it becomes 2 .bin files. I assume the version number is in the .exe file but I really haven't a clue. Like I said I'm trying to help another member out but my skills are basic (I don't know basic either lol) to say the least.

I thought if I could change the version number of the firmware he'd be able to install the region B version on top of the same A version. Otherwise it may just be easier for the next update to come out and install that. Any help would be really appreciated.

What are the two files and is one a DVD.bin? The DVD.bin appears to be for the loader.

Here's a link to a .zip of the files:

The download form the UK Toshiba site is BDX1100KB_050_B it's a Win32 Zip Self Extractor pon software. If you run it you're left with 8550_linux_demo_dbg.bin and the DVD.BIN file. I assume the DVD.BIN file is the update? I can't seem to find the version number in any of the files to alter it.

I think .exe has to be unzipped/extracted into a UPG_ALL folder.

The 8550_linux_demo_dbg.bin is the firmware file and is ~32 MB is size. The DVD.bin file is for the loader and is only ~350 KB in size (much too small for BD player firmware). If you look at the firmware for the US version it only has the 8550_linux_demo_dbg.bin file and not the DVD.bin file.
