Default Lost or Battlestar Galactica?

I'm on Season 2 of both, which Complete series set should i get? I can only get one right now. I like both, and i would appreciate any advice on what to get. Thanks.

Tough call. I'd probably go BSG, but either one is a good choice.

I was completely sucked into the LOST hype train for quite some time. In my opinion the quality of the show gradually goes downhill starting with season 3. It completely fell short in many respects, and lost it's bearings when they introduced a buttload of unsolvable mysteries and characters that had no relevance.

I haven't seen a single episode of Battlestar Galatica, but I've heard it get praise from a lot of people. I've always wanted to get into the show, but can't manage it with all the new stuff that's on now.

I'd suggest, if you have Netflix, to check out the rest of LOST through that. I was able to stream it through my Xbox 360/PS3 in HD, and they had all the seasons with all the episodes. If you turn out to have a different opinion than mine, I'd purchase the boxset.

LOST.

I love both shows but LOST is much better in the long run. They both have comparably awesome first seasons but BSG is only 4 seasons and it's good for 2 1/2 of them. LOST has 3 fantastic seasons (1,4,5), 2 good seasons (2,6) and one poor (3). Both series have what most consider poor endings but you be the judge of that.

My vote is for Battlestar Galactica. But I'm not sure how helpful my vote is...considering I sold my Lost Blu-Ray the same month I bought it. I didn't even finish the second season. It's actually the set that made me swear off blind buys!

LOST.

I like both, but LOST has a lot more re-watchability, and the packaging is way way cooler.

I don't have the Lost box set as I had all the seasons already, but although I watched all of BSG last year, I just didn't feel the need to own them and Netflixed them all.

I can't ever see myself rewatching BSG more than maybe once again, but LOST is like Buffy to me where I see something new every time, and I whip them out every year or so to rewatch.

As to the quality of the shows, both have reps of being "bad" sometime in the middle, I like most of Lost (although I would have done the last season differently), and the "bad" parts in Season 3 are only really a couple of unnecessary episodes (Locke as the grower, Jack's Asian affair) but by the end of the season the end-game is completely set up.

BSG, I get why people lost it in the middle - it does certainly become a different kind of show, but I still enjoyed it (though I went out of my way to watch a few of the "webisodes" that weren't on one of the releases, and I thought they were really unnecessary and didn't really add anything to the show. But again, I just don't think there are as many clever/hidden things in BSG as there are a show like LOST, so I would definitely go with LOST as it's just such a rewatchable show.

I really liked both, but I'd go with BSG.

The Lost ending was absolutely terrible and left a bitter taste in my mouth... and some of the episodes were absolutely unwatchable to me (like the ones with Nicki and Paulo.) To me it opened extremely strong, the first two seasons are some of my favorite of any show ever, but got worse as it progressed. They're completely different shows, and BSG is definitely "cheesier" (not necessarily a bad thing, but it is) but overall I enjoyed it more.

To me Lost felt like the writers had no clue whatsoever what they were doing with the story after the second season, it lost all cohesiveness as if they were completely making it up in a panic as they went along rather than having a concrete direction to take it in from the beginning...

In my opinion the writers ruined the series of LOST with the final season.
One of the biggest cop out endings ever...

BSG's ending was perfect, reinforcing the
[Show spoiler]repeating cycle theme of the entire series.
A cop-out it is not. It is true that the final season of BSG started out quite weak, but it ended the show perfectly, IMHO. I loved every one of the major character resolutions. I was not disappointed in any of them.

BSG.
The only low point was when the writers tried to give in to the viewers and toying with the relation between Apollo and Starbucks.

Imo the ending was pitch perfect for the show.

I've yet to finish either show but both are amazing so far...I'm on 4.5 on bsg and I'm just a few episodes in season 2 on lost. I would recommend both as much watch shows. Whichever you watch first don't really matter, I started watching bsg about 2 years ago and just haven't got around to the finale season yet but I just started lost a couple weeks ago and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

That's exactly what happened.

I was very addicted to both as they were airing. Lost pulled me in a bit more, but I found the final season to be incredibly lackluster. While a lot of people complained about how BSG ended, I wouldn't have had it any other way.

BSG gets my vote.

Which wasn't the case at all. They did have issues in Season 3 because they were trying to get a finite end date so they could start crafting the last few seasons toward the finale they had envisioned, so for a while there they were just writing to write. But that happens in every show, and BSG certainly had more than plenty "filler" episodes that were pretty bad.
