Default PS3 price

I don't think that $600.00 is way too much for a ps3. When you think about it, look at what you can do with a ps3. Besides playing games, you can use your psp as an additonal remote, play movies, play music CD's and go online. We have yet to see if black will be the only choice available to buy. I don't think that black is even a bad color because the psp is black and most TV's today are in a black frame so the ps3 will be right at home. There are a few things that I'm not clear about: 1) Has the ps3 console been redesigned since last year's E3? It doesn't seem so. 2) Where does a ps2 memory card plug into? I'd think the back. 3) Can you use a ps2 controller with the console? I read that Sony might include an adapter of some sort to use a wired controller, but then I thought that since the new controller is cordless why even make an adapter in the first place since if we had to choose between corded or cordless, I think most of us would choose cordless.

To answer your questions:

There is no slot for a PS1 or 2 memory card, sony haven't said how they will be connected to enable you to load yours saved games when playing older games.

PS2 pads can't connect to the PS3, again, there is no slot for them. The PS3 pads have a wired option which uses a USB cable.

the console hasn't be redesigned, but some slots and ports have been removed since it was revealed last year.

Silver and White consoles will be available at some point, but initially only black will be available.

maybe they will have an external bay for older memory cards via USB?....kind of like themulti-adaptor for 4-5 extra controllers...

Sony is known for transfer-type devices like this....memory sticks all have these...and I wouldn't be shocked if the PS3 enabled memory stick duo and duo pro....much like the PSP and you would transfer files onto these memory sticks...

just my .02, though...

I was kind of surprised that not everything has been revealed. I'd thinking that the hard drive might be used to copy the contents of a memory card on to and then when you play a ps2 or ps1 game, your save file is loaded off of the hard drive. Anyway, just a guess. This is just one of the loose ends that is still being worked on.

that is what they are doing....my point was on the current memory cards prior to someone having a PS3...
