Just wondering what you guys do with your dvds when you have upgraded to blu ray? do you keep both editions or sell on or re-package??
At first i used to sell my dvds on ebay once i had replaced with dvd but now if i enjoy the film i purchase insert trays from ebay which make a single blu ray edition into a double play save space on my shelves so i have both blu ray and dvd in the same blu ray case. |

You could donate them to charity e.g. children's hospital. I'm sure those kids would really appreciate new films!
That is something I might end up doing as it is really frustrating to sell them. edit. Don't send Salo. Last edited by KrugerIndustrial; 04-28-2011 at 02:07 PM. |

If the Blu's don't have DVD's I'll keep them. Most aren't worth selling (which makes me feel sad), I still buy DVD's so they'll probably remain part of my film collection.
I like the idea of adding a tray to the blu-ray case making your own Double Plays but haven't got round to that yet. |

You'd be as well selling them on ebay then donating the cash made to the charity. In my experience they tend to have standard pricing which falls well short of new DVDs value. |

I'd sold a lot of mine when the HD war was going on so I got decent prices for them. I've got about ten odd left over still (not including the ones I've been unable to upgrade or dont see the point in upgrading) that just wont sell on ebay so its either keep them or donate them at this point as any I've sold in the last year have barely gone for a couple of quid WITH postage. Disney DVD's are the only exception as most of those still rake in an average of about £10 per movie

I'm keeping them, what the hell would you thought?
The Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes will never be replaced by upscales on Blu-ray or anything, for example. Lots of films/series aren't still on Blu-ray for starters. |

Some I take out and add to the Blu-ray (many MANY DVDs have far more special features (or diffierent) than the Blu-ray equivalents). They can also be used as a 'digital copy' (whatever the **** that is) and won't ever run out. And I bought them and selling them now would get me nothing. |

Well I kinda wished I'd thought of the whole idea of adding an insert tray to make your own "double-play" editions when I first got my Blu-ray player! However most of mine (dvds) I've given to family or friends, though still have some which people aren't interested in - usually foreign films which my family/friends aren't really in to. You don't hardly get anything on ebay for a dvd these days so can't be bothered with that option, so anything I haven't given away yet is now sitting in my loft. I have started adding an insert tray for some Blu-rays for extras discs from a previous dvd edition (Spider-man 1 & 2, Kingdom of heaven) which shamefully haven't been ported over to the BD

i sold all my dvds at a carboot sale in 08', been on the blu since ps3 was released in '07, but keeping them is best i would think, adding them to the blu release as a dvd copy and storing the cases is very sensible as others have suggested.

Hmmm, it is something I haven't decided on yet. I have one Blu-ray title where I already had the DVD, but the DVD has loads of great extras, whilst the Blu-ray has none whatsoever, so it is great to have both. So I'm not sure what I will do if the Blu-ray has the same or more extras, as there would be no purpose having the DVD. I don't think you would get that much for secondhand DVDs anymore either, so I guess I might just keep them.
