Default Having a problem with my Sub

Last week I believe, I noticed that my sub was not running during the movie I was watching.

The Power was on, It was Connected, but even after I turned it on and off, It wasnt until I unpluged the AV connection that it started up again. It happened again last night.

What could be the Problem?

Is your subwoofer set in a "stand by" mode? Sometimes this can cause the sub to cut off during watching a movie if it doesn't receive a steady signal from the receiver. I would put it in a "power on" mode to see if that fixes it.

I honestly dont think that this sub has that. If it does, I never got instructions on how to turn that setting off.

Its an Acoustic Audio HD-SUB12

It would be a switch on the rear of the sub. What names are on the switches on your subwoofer, besides the "gain" and "crossover" settings?

Thats the only one i could find. i dont think the switch near the bottom is a standby mode switch, it has something to do with voltage.

Just to clarify a few things Mike.

You could have an issue with the sub pre out on your AVR, unlikely but can happen. Another problem could be a bad sub cable. The "auto on" function could be bad on your sub as well. Leaving the switch to "on" all the time will leave the sub always on and won't go to standby. Could also be the source you were watching as it didn't have enough LFE to wake the sub up. Just a few things to look at.

The first time i noticed was with Tron Legacy so the LFE was there. I dont know wabout the others though. because it does come back on after i plug back in the av cables.

Some very good points here. It is true if you leave the sub in the "on" position you will have to turn the subs power control on and off every time you use it and finish using it.

Well, to be fair, we don't know what position the switch is set to yet. If it is set to "auto on" that means when no signal is present the sub shuts off automatically. I personally don't like that setting and chose to manually turn my subs off and on when I use them.

It won't hurt anything leaving it on all the time. If it is indeed a bad "auto on" function of your subs amp then you will have no choice other then replacing the amp.
