Aww I was excited for a minute there when I saw the thread title, thought a release date was available

They'll most probably be released at the same time or before the release of The Ring 3/3D which is due for release next year.

That would be the obvious thing to do, but you never know with Universal. They can be quite random with their catalog titles, especially in the UK. They could announce another wave of catalogs tomorrow, all for the same release date, and include both The Ring 1 and 2 in there.

Weird, as the Best Buy lenticular version I bought at the beginning of last year is A locked.

Looks like Warner removed the region coding when they pressed new disc's.

Hmm,I was just going by the info on here so unless someone has made a mistake there, like I said I was close to buying it recently as I believed there wouldn't be an issue, now you have raised some doubts but it seems that may well be the case.

For fans of the Japanese original series, there's been a limited edition box-set advertised on Arrow's own site and Zavvi (though not Amazon as yet): https://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/the-ri.../12005261.html

Bit late to the party but they've finally released The Ring here in the UK for the 20th anniversary. Identical to the US Blu-ray release, in that it comes in a steelbook with the VHS slipcover.

Unfortunately, it has none of the special features that are on the American version, which is a shame.

I have the lenticular slipcover released way back when from the US, but I did spot the new steelbook at my local fnac and thought it was weird not listing the extras. Now I know why...

Paramount used to have a habit of dropping special features for the UK release on older titles. I thought they'd stopped doing that

Usually we'd only get them if they did a re-release or a 4K release. I'm keeping my DVD as it has a lenticular but it would have been nice having the extras in HD

Though it would be strange if they did a 4K release with a VHS slipcover!
