Default Ben 10 The Movie

Ben 10 to Transform Oncreen?

Quote:
One of the Cartoon Network's biggest players in the animated children's market is looking to make the leap from the TV display to the big screen. Ben 10, the beloved franchise that has spurn many spin-offs and sequels, is looking to be made into a live-action movie for theaters, thanks to producer Joel Silver.

Variety is reporting the developments. The series has always consistently done well in the ratings, and the television movie, Ben 10: Race Against Time, managed to draw over 4 million fans in its timeslot. If the film manages to hit theaters, Warner Bros. would likely be the ones distributing it, seeing as how they go hand-in-hand with Turner Broadcasting's home video distribution of the animated series and all.

Silver has failed to bring another animated franchise to the big screen with the flop Speed Racer, though in his defense, it's not exactly as if the material was fresh and new with audiences in the same way that a potential Ben 10 big screen adaptation could be, which is still a hit with kids of all ages. Says Silver regarding Speed Racer, "I tried to do [something similar] with Speed Racer and failed miserably. You always learn more from the ones that don't work than the ones that do work."

Awesome news and took them long enough. Have to say this is IMO a really good show and something I enjoy watching. The first 2 live action TV movies weren't bad either.

Albert Torres to Draft Live Action Ben 10

Quote:
First announced last year, Joel Silver is working to bring the Cartoon Network property Ben 10 to theaters. Today, Variety has confirmed that Albert Torres has boarded the project as the screenwriter.

Created by Man of Action (Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau, Steve Seagle), the series is about a boy (Ben Tennyson) who discovers a strange wrist watch that allows him to transforms into 10 different aliens with super powers. It premiered on Cartoon Network in January 2006 and quickly became a global hit, reaching more than 165 countries. With these powers, Ben can play the part of a superhero, righting wrongs, saving the world and getting into some old-fashioned kid-style trouble. A #1 hit for the network on Saturday mornings, the "Ben 10" saga continued to expand as a series, first with "Ben 10: Alien Force" in April 2008 and then with "Ben 10: Ultimate Alien" in spring 2010.

Torres is best known as the writer of Henry Poole is Here and recently contributed to Akira at Warner Bros.

This could be disastrous if not handled properly. Avatar was an excellent animated series destroyed by M. Night whatshisface. What could have been an epic series like Transformers was brought to its knees. Hopefully Ben 10 won't suffer the same fate.

I'm sure this will turn out fine or even really good. I for one enjoyed the live action TV movies so if they stick to those and improve on them I say we are in for one good Ben 10 movie.
