Default Favorite "Sesame Street" Character?

OK, this show's been on the air for decades, so let's share some memories. What's your fave character on the show, and why?

The original bromance. I have not seen the show in years and years. I am not a little kid, and I do not have any children. I guess that I will go with either Bert and Ernie (sp), or Oscar the Grouch. Bert and Ernie were my favorites when I was a child, and I'm a lot like Oscar the Grouch now.

...WEEKS? I''d stopped watching after they changed the format when producer Jon Stone left around '90, and that's where fans traditionally draw the historical line between "Old-School" (70's-80's) and "Elmo Era" (current Nick-imitation "Segment anthology" version).

And if you're talking "Old-school", you're talking "Follow That Bird", "Big Bird in China", "Don't Eat the Pictures", and the time Phil Donahue helped prove that Snuffleupagus was real.

(Me, I just about sprayed milk the first time I'd heard Big Bird make an in-joke about Carroll Spinney's home town, as it was coincidentally the same one I'd grown up in.
Just another reason they were both cool, in those long-gone Old-School days. )

How can you not love this:

Also, if you haven't seen Being Elmo, it's a really great documentary.

I always liked Oscar. He's mean and ornery.
