A real good movie, but would it look good on BD? I feel Stripes could look real bad if they use some old master.

I watched my Extended Edition DVD a few months ago, and I thought it looked awful. Not so much that the transfer was bad; it's just a lot of gaudy compression on the disc. On Blu-Ray it'll probably still be a bit drab, but unless they goof something up (too much DNR, too much noise, something), it should look miles better than any DVD copy before it.

"That's a fact, Jack!"

All marked at $19.99 even though they rang up 14.99. Seriously Best Buy makes me scratch my head sometimes. They obviously pay the studio to have these exclusive then they seem to go out of their way to NOT sell any by hiding the titles then not listing them as on sale.
Placing Blu-rays in displays all over the store has long been a gripe of mine. /rant

As far as Instore pickup. Forget about it. Its always a hassle for many reasons.

Add to that my distaste of the studio's for treating all of the these titles with no respect. If anything the DVD's of all of these releases are cheaper and in most cases offer better special features and options. A small upgrade in PQ & AQ is all you seem to get. I love when studio's pull this crap then wonder why Bluray isn't selling as many titles as expected.
Same thing with my best buy took me awhile just to find these movies, no dis

They had about four of these at my local BB. It's the only one without a slipcover. They were all $14.99 but still took them til yesterday to put them out. It's pretty amazing because these we're originally supposed to come out last Sunday.

I finally got one at my local BB. They must have waited until Tuesday to put them out.

Still annoyed that the theatrical version is not included.

Default DVD extras not on Blu?

Hey, before I sell my DVD -- for, you know, 10¢ -- and then find out it has stuff I want on it, can anyone affirm the differences for me? (I have the Extended Cut DVD but it's still wrapped.)

The back says 107 mins and "18 minutes of deleted scenes", implying they are separate but also "never-before-seen expanded version"; are both playable versions on the disc?

Does the (Extended Cut) DVD have any extras besides the commentary and the hour-long doc? Are they lame, like some photos and the IMDb info on actors? Please let me know.

TIA.

I bought this a week ago during Best Buy's buy 1, get 1 free sale and decided to trade it in at Amazon yesterday. This is the first time I watched the Extended version and IMHO, the added footage just killed the movie. I was very disappointed, even if I only paid $5 for it. Maybe most people liked the Extended Cut better, which why Sony only included that version. But in my opinion, I think the theatrical cut is superior, by far.

Nahh everyone I've heard that's seen the extended cut dislikes it. They probably went with it since the dvd for this came out in the mid 2000's and they probably had a recent HD master for this and not the original cut.

I have yet to read of anyone preferring the extended version.

The DVD is branched between both versions so the master is the same.

Oh, I thought it just had the extended version. Then I guess there really isn't a reason why both versions aren't on the blu ray.
