Hello I have a new Oppo 93 player and I was wondering if I need to have my video setup as 1080p or source direct?

thanks for the input

Source Direct means the player outputs the video exactly as it is. For Blu-ray, almost all movies are encoded at 1080p 24fps (frames per second) so it doesn't matter so much, as long as your TV can accept that. But for DVD it means it won't upconvert it, outputting it as 480i 30fps as it is on the disc. Folks with high end video processors will use source direct, everyone else will be better with the player set to 1080p.

So with my TV when I watch a DVD should I change it to 1080p? Look at my sig to see the TV I have.

That's a nice plasma. I would definitely set the player to 1080p so it will upconvert DVD to 1080p, but I would also just set it for 1080p for everything. Some Blu-ray TV shows and such are 1080i and the player convert those to 1080p.
