Thumbs up Band of Brothers + The Pacific Combo Set Nov. 8th, 2011

HBO is world-renown for their television events, ranging from their full-season, episodic adventures throughout history with the likes of True Blood, Game of Thrones, and the Sopranos, or even their comedy specials ranging from the likes of the brilliant, belated George Carlin to Chris Rock. One thing that always catches the eye of everyone with a subscription is the miniseries events, where the likes of Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and more come out to show us the casualties of war.

Warner Home Video and HBO Home Entertainment will be getting together to salute our past troops with a gigantic collection containing the critically-heralded miniseries events, Band of Brothers and The Pacific. This massive box set will hold both specials in their entirety, containing special features to complement them while housed in a pretty sweet collector's box. The mega-set will be made available on November 8, 2011 for the SRP of $199.98 on Blu-ray and $159.98 on DVD.

The releases will feature the following bonus materials:

-- Audio Commentary
-- Making Of featurette
-- Documentaries

Of course, the real reason you're still reading is to check out the packaging. Check out the box art below:

$200?! That's absolutely insane. I paid $40 for Band of Brothers and $50 for The Pacific.

Which of course are discounted from their original MSRP...just like this one will be when all the major discount retailers get it. I'm sure the combined set will cost more than the individual box sets from the first release, as I imagine there will be some additional content not available in the previous versions...but that is an assumption at this point.

What possible extra content could there be? Both sets are loaded as it is.

According to this: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=7068 it'll be the same discs as the previously released BDs of BoB and The Pacific along with high gloss photos, collectible maps, and one new docu: "He Has Seen War."

Does anyone know any details about the new Band of Brothers + The Pacific combo set coming out on Tuesday, June 2, 2020? Will it just be a repackaging of the previous set, just with smaller packaging this time around?

I got mine today. The outer case spine holding the 2 sets measures about 1 1/2 inches across. Definitely smaller than the previous set!

Any chance of posting some picks of this set?

I'd like to get an idea of the outer packaging, case holders, disc art and bonus (13th) disc if at all possible.

The outer case holding the 2 sets is, maybe slightly, better than the Mill Creek sets (30 Rock being the most recent). It feels a little thicker, but not much. The disc holders are my only complaint. They're not "tall" enough. I had a lot of floaters in my set that came in the mail. Even after I reattached the discs to their holders, they came loose when I turned the disc holder to the other side. Disc art was the same for each of the 6 discs in each set. No disc "art", but they each had the same pea green color. Just show titles and episode titles. The bonus disc is black. Apologies for the blurry disc pictures.

Are you talking about the "Play with Historical Background" intros, that Tom Hanks narrates, and has some veterans speaking in them as well? They're 2-3 minutes long each. After those optional intros, the disc goes straight to the episode, not back to the main menu.

Sorry, no prizes. Just 2 BD cases within a slipcase.
