I literally yelped a "holy shit" upon noticing this thread title. Hopefully the video is a bit better than the Korean Blu.

Sent an email off to IFC to see if this is indeed really coming (something about the date being so close to the DVD's original release date of Oct 26, 2010 seems strange). Will hopefully have good news soon.

All it needs is the same transfer as the french release, but encoded in 1080p and with audio at the correct pitch (those are the only faults of that release). The Korean release is smothered in DNR sadly.

Is IFC a reliable studio/company?

Would love this to be true and be an excellent release because I'd import it in an instant!

It's probably better that someone tries to confirm this. There are a lot of films on IFC's website that say they will be or have been released released on blu-ray and haven't:

http://www.ifcfilms.com/films/heartbreaker
These are just a couple

October 16th is a Sunday. Seems pretty clear that IFC planned a BD release last year, canned it, and never bothered to update the site.

For all intents and purposes, the French release is 1080p. For some reason Blu doesn't officially support 25p, so a 25p source has to be encoded at 50i via 2:2 pulldown. But any BD player that supports 50i content should be capable of inverting the pulldown and producing a 1080p25 stream. I saw absolutely no sign of interlacing on the French release, so it seems safe to say it came from a 25p source. The real problem is that the French release shouldn't have been 25fps in the first place -- presumably they were using a master intended for European television and couldn't be bothered to convert it to 24p.

If this is true, then I'm glad I held off on getting the Korean blu.

I guess it's safe to assume this was a false alarm? I don't see any pre-order up for Amazon.

Looks like I'll be importing it.

I was just wondering, is the Korean blu region free, on here it says it is, on other sites it says it's region A.

IFC Films happened to it. They really don't seem to focus on Blu-ray.

I am not sure they are focused on anything at the moment. There have been some pretty incredible complaints about their theatrical releases this year as well. A lot of people are very upset.

The thing that irritates me about some of their films is that I can watch them streaming in HD on Netflix (The Chaser, Map of the Sounds of Tokyo) but they're only available to purchase on DVD.

I was interested in getting the Korean blu-ray, but looking through this topic makes me sad. Since all hopes of a new Region A release diminished a year ago, is the Korean version really that bad?
