I've got two different copies of Mel Gibson's The Patriot and each one is a different running time, being 158 mins and the extended version at 168 mins. I'v e seen the Blu-Ray disc and it says it is 175 mins. Can anyone tell me what is different about this version over the DVD's?

Hi Dean, the Blu-ray is the same cut of the film as the extended DVD. The reason for the time difference is that the DVDs are encoded as PAL, and run shorter because of the PAL speedup, whereas the Blu-ray runs at the same speed as the original film.
The Blu-ray has a couple of short background features ("The Art of War" and "The True Patriots"), and also has an uncompressed PCM 5.1 audio track in English, in addition to the bog-standard Dolby 5.1 track. Last edited by MacEachaidh; 08-17-2011 at 07:21 PM. |
