![]() ![]() Re-Animator Blu-ray Re-Animator Blu-ray Review Barbara Crampton joined Twitter recently. (Although she's not verified, several of my press friends talk to and have interviewed her in person, so it's definitely her.) She's very responsive, so I asked her about Re-Animator. Today, she got back to me: http://twitter.com/#!/barbaracrampto...31373605961728 Not the most watertight, foolproof info in the world, but still, sounds good to me. I saw this on DVDTalk, and I'll say the same thing I said there.
As much as I love this movie and want to see a great Blu-Ray, I am a bit hesitant about it. If Anchor Bay is still working on it, then I'll be looking forward to it. If it's one of the titles that Image obtained, based on what we're seeing with The Hills Have Eyes and Hellraiser II, I won't be too enthused. |

[Show spoiler] ![]() Really hope they include the documentary from the last release. And as others have said, the highlighter. ![]() |

[Show spoiler] Glad plenty of people who love this movie are happy with the Blu-ray Image gave us. Personally, I wish Don May had gotten in touch with Yuzna just a little earlier... |

Wow, looking at those last 2 screens posted...I don't even know what to say. I honestly would not be able to tell which one was blu-ray if I didn't know because of the difference in cropping, and the somewheat better color of the blu-ray. There's absolutely no additional detail to be found. I'm shocked if this isn't an upconversion.
I was disappointed in the release as a whole, but I was at least hoping for a nice image. This film deserves a much better release than this. Look at the upcoming release of Halloween II - a 2nd disc with the tv version of the film, and several brand-new documentaries and extras, in HD. Now look at this release. They just dumped everything from the old DVDs onto the blu-ray disc. Now I'm glad that they did include those extras, because I hate when blu-rays don't include previously-releases extras, but really, it seems they couldn't be bothered to go out and put anything new together for this release. Just a quick cash-grab. At the very least, they could have gone back and scanned the deleted scenes in HD - they don't have to remaster them, just offer them up in HD so we don't have to see 20 minutes of footage in a tiny window because they're widescreen SD. Anyways, now that it seems like the transfer may not be very good, I'm thinking it might be better to see what the other release looks like. Will that be region-free? EDIT: And...cancelled. This disc just isn't worth it. Too many other great discs coming out. I'll certainly be watching for the other release - hopefully it will be better (and region-free).
