Default Why aren't all recent films a 5/5 for picture quality?

Dunno if this is the right forum.. Can someone inform me why recent films don't achieve a 5/5 for picture quality.. Is it the kind of film that differs, the camera??

Just curious..

Because they aren't all a 5/5 in theaters, either.

Don't you think it's a cheek to release something on blu-ray when it isn't using the best picture quality?

There's about a hundred different reasons... the film's visual subject matter, photographic style, budget (which may mean quick and dirty shooting, less fancy lighting setups, economical film formats, less fancy post production facilities), mastering screwups, compression quality, etc.

Yeah, this about covers it. Lighting, budget, and director's intent are probably the three largest reasons why a BD's PQ may not look perfect.
