Default Wish You Were Here SACD

Don't know if this was known already but couldn't find anything. Seems like a Acoustic Sounds exclusive. Same remaster from James Guthrie, both stereo and 5.1 have been remastered from the original analog master tapes.

Check it out, and apologies if it's old news

They're releasing a Blu-ray disc as part of the Wish You Were Here Immersion Set. Wish they'd release the Blu-ray as a stand alone. Not sure if my wallet can take another $100.00+ hit for this set like I did for Dark side of the Moon.

It doesn't look like it's an Acoustic Sounds exclusive, notice their website says "No Other Retailer Will Have The Disc Before Acoustic Sounds" which implies there will be a general release later. Anyways, this will be in my must-buy list.

Didn't see that part, and their shipping options to Canada seem high, will have to double check, otherwise I'll just wait for a general release or blu down the road.

Edit, It is on their own Analogue Productions label, might be hard to get elsewhere for cheaper as they are the distributor. Waiting on a reply on shipping option prices for 2, they don't ship to Canada for less than $50. Will just sell the other to recup some of the shipping, as I would prefer it in sacd to go with it's older brother.

Oups I didn't express very well there, what I meant is they don't ship orders of less than $50 (explaining the order of 2), but they only use UPS and we all know what that meens in costs usually.

I preordered mine a few weeks ago. For 2 CD's It would have been $25 through UPS but if you call them you can ask them to ship through USPS airmail. USPS was $10 to Alberta

If the Immersion box set was not going to be released, I would jump on this, but I already have the box set pre-ordered.

Elusivedisc has it as well.

They also have a shipping deal on 1st time orders than will even give a discount to Canada, and no need to order a min of $50.

Thanks for the links, just ordered my copy. Got free priority shipping, and since they are based in Anderson(about 35-40 minutes north of me), I should get it pretty quick. Love the looks of the packaging. Can't wait to get my copy and listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond in glorious surround sound.
Argh, I just checked the status of my order and it's not expected in until the 15th. I may cancel my order and get it from Acoustic Sounds or Music Direct.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I had the extreme good fortune of hearing a preview of this in its entirety this afternoon at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Sitting there, all I could think was....wow....this is what we waited 35 years for. Outstanding. Even though I have the Immersion set ordered, I will have to also order this. I can't imagine someone not wanting to add this to their collection.

Mr. Guthrie was supposed to be in attendance, but he may have been at lunch when I was there. Would have been nice to quiz him about any plans for the rest of the catalogue.

I heard from other attendees that the peak levels sounded a bit harsh, but I'm sure overall it was top notch. I'll definitely be picking it up. No need for the "immersion set" version. Just the SACD for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to find Queen A Night at the Opera for preorder as well as the sacd for Tea for the Tillerman.

Let's keep the discussion to the topic, which is PF's "Wish You Were Here" on "SACD". Thanks!

It's a shame that neither SACD or DVD Audio took off, because they are much better than CD and can now hardly be found anywhere except on websites on the net. That's what happens when you have two competing formats and no one is a clear winner unfortunately.

I couldn't understand why Oppo manufactured an obsolete, defunct audio formats compatibility into their blu-ray players in the first place, because DVD-Audio, and SACD's are obscured, and very limited. Hardly nobody buy regular CD's anymore, lest DVD-Audio, and SACD's! With the internet, the majority of people are downloading their music. This is the 21st Century. DVD-Audio, and SACD format have been dead for years. That's like trying to find an 8-track tape!

Engines of Creation can be had for cheaper. It's two-channel, but images like crazy at least on my system.

Because Oppo did a lot of due diligence in product development and asked prospective customers what they'd want in a disc machine. Yeah, you're right that few DVD-As and SACDs are released now (although if you add up the APO and SHM SACDs, I think more of them are coming now than at most points in the past 10 years)...there are potentially thousands of SACDs and scores of DVD-As in some collections. Oppo is trying to sell its BDP machines to the owners of those collections...and succeeding!
