Australia The Robert Rodriguez Collection: 2/11/11 (JB Exclusive. Four Films)

Couldn't find a thread for this already so I thought I'd create one.

Seems like a pretty good set and at a good price too ($29.98). Four of his movies, although I don't consider Machete to be one of his wholly:

Desperado / El Mariachi / Machete / Once Upon A Time In Mexico

http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...y-jb-ex/655816

Will be a must buy if it has all the same special features as the US versions of each film.

Awesome, I will pick this up 1st day, even though I own Machete on blu already. It's quite cheap for 4 blu-ray movies. Obviously it's close to the studios RRP, otherwise jb would be charging more for it with the vultures they have become lately.

Desperado and El Mariachi must be on the same disc.

Not wholly. He didn't direct it entirely himself and the movie suffers because of it.

Yeah, same as the US release, they are both on the one disc also.

I reckon it should have included:
Desperado / El Mariachi / Once Upon a Time in Mexico / From Dusk Till Dawn

I understand Machete is a new movie and people would buy because of it being included so cheap but I believe From Dusk Till Dawn to be a far superior film.

What do you guys think?

I agree, Dusk till Dawn > Machete, plus the fact that he didn't fully direct Machete making it not entirely his.

That said, I think people associate Tarantino with Dusk Till Dawn too much? I dunno, didn't he direct a few scenes out of it?

QT wrote FDTD, but nobody's ever suggested he directed any of it (he was too busy acting in it - or at least what he thought was "acting"). The way the film chan ges track halfway through makes a lot of people consider the first half QT, the second half RR, but that's from prior preconceptions. Maybe you're thinking of Sin City (which was co-directed by RR and Frank Miller, and had QT as 'guest director' for one particular scene).
