USA Two Movies On A Single Blu-Ray

I was wondering how many people like to buy the combo packs that have two movies such as Collateral Damage/Eraser? I have never purchased one and was wondering if both movies were on a single disc with a menu or if you actually received 2 blurays in one case

In the case of Collateral Damage/Eraser, they are two discs in a single case. However there are some releases that have two movies on a single disc.

I'm pretty sure they're two movies on one disc. I know my Wal-mart has A LOT of them. I don't even bother to look at that section. I just look away.

uhhh, no they are not. they are 2 discs. they were jsut the individual releases slapped together in one set. and as for the ones that ARE on one disc. they look just fine. because they are on a dual layer disc and for catalog titles like that Warner puts them on single layer discs anyways. so nothing you wouldn't see in an individual release. I swear some peoples OCD on this forum is enough to make me bang my head against a wall.

Echo Bridge is notorious, though, for putting two movies on a single BD25.
Those look horrible.

The only multi-film combo release in my collection (so far) is the "Grumpy Old Men" series, and that's mainly because its the only current release of the second one. I like both of them, though, so it doesn't bug me too much. However, I've seen some combos and thought, "What were they thinking, putting those two together?" For example, I'm not a huge Van Damme fan by any means, but "Timecop" is one of my faves, and I have zero interest in "Bloodsport". I get the whole "same actor" marketing approach, but at least the "Grumpy" set made sense.

Default 2 Packs

My feeling on the two pack format is if it's a great epic movie I would not buy it on a two pack i.e. Gladiator/Braveheart but some light comedy films I might buy.

[Show spoiler]
Disney put both The Fox and the Hound and its sequel on one disc, but (a) they're two relatively short movies and (b) Disney mastered them that way from day one. (Edit: Echo Bridge would be similar.)

OTOH, if the movies have already been mastered to single BDs before, a combo will likely be two single BDs; the studio won't spend extra money remastering them onto a single BD, especially if it's WB (which released both Collateral Damage & Eraser separately). WB is notorious for making as few BD masters as humanly possible; that's why most of their movie BDs are region-free and PAL/50Hz-free even in PAL territories.

The only way to conserve polycarbonate in those cases would be to use flipper discs (which shouldn't have to be remastered), but AFAIK no BD/BD flippers exist; Universal got burned on BD/DVD flippers. (Edit: And flippers are out of the question in most of Europe & Australia, where the law requires ratings symbols to be printed directly on the disc label; the ring on flippers is too small for that.)
