Metal Gear Solid 5 Announced

Hideo Kojima is back behind the wheel for the next installment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

First details of the project are revealed in the upcoming issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK, where Kojima himself discusses plans for Metal Gear Solid 5 and the recently teased Project Ogre.

The issue hits newsstands on November 29, though excerpts from the interview are said to be available online sometime next week.

So the question is... will it be coming for PS3 or PS4?

OMG SO EXCITING!!! At this point I would suspect PS4 is a good candidate.

I imagine it will come for PS3 since Sony does not even have PS4 specs on the market

I've only played Guns of the Patriots; but I assumed next months release of Rising was MGS5, since Guns... is called MGS4 and Rising is the next in the franchise, from what I can tell. What am I missing?

It's just the naming convention. Rising (MGS:R) is considered a side story so it is "Metal Gear Solid: Rising" whereas MGS4 is "Metal Gear Solid 4: GotP". MGS5 will be something else.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is a spin off series. It doesn't carry the "Tactical Espionage Action" tag, it instead uses "Lightning Bolt Action" because thats what the series gameplay focuses on rather than the main series stealth.
