Christian Carion's Joyeux Noel a.k.a Merry Christmas (2005) has received a preliminary release date for the Gallic markets: March 7th. Courtesy of UGC Vidéo.

A lovely, lovely film, this one. A shame it is coming in March instead of in time for the holidays, though.

I may get it with or without subs, as I can't see it coming out anywhere else anytime soon.

Region free? English subs?

Can someone tell me if either the German or French region B discs have English subtitles? I will import it if so. I have a region-free player.

Thanks. I went ahead and ordered the German version. Looks like it has an English DT-MA track. Let me know about your French one too if you don't mind though.

I just imported this German version of this Blu-ray from Amazon.de for a very reasonable price - it's the cover with the 3 faces, not the handshake. But I didn't realize there were no English subtitles. Luckily for me, it does have the original 3-language audio track, and I rip all my movies to my Plex server. So once I created the MKV file, I was able to download English subs from subdl.com (Joyeux.Noel.2005.1080p.BluRay.x264-CiNEFiLE) and mux them into the film using MKVToolNix. The one complication I ran into was that the timing was off and the subs drifted farther and farther out of sync as the movie went on. MKVToolNix came to the rescue again with the stretch feature. After some calculations involving subtitle timestamps, I used a stretch ratio of 6001/5994 on the subtitle track and now I have a lovely version of Joyeux Noel with English subs only on the French and German parts. I just wanted to reproduce this info here in case it's helpful to anyone else.
