Ya I just got this same exact message today... Seemed like a scam since I just recently added funds last week after not having any in my account

I got the same message today. But I never have funds in my account for longer than 6 months
Also every link in the message apparently takes you to the same page... not that I'm going to risk clicking on it.

The message suggested to spend some amount like the minis. The problem is that I was away and my wife did click that link. It took her to the ps mini games section.

Am I safe

Default Phishing - definitely

Just did some poking around in the back of this email - its clearly a scam site, and none of the URL's it takes you too are Sony (they are mock up's)

I reported it to Sony, as you'll notice the email (to your email address) contains your PSN ID, and as far as I'm aware there is no way people outside of Sony could relate your PSN ID to your email address. I suspect this is probably an attempt to get something useful out of the limited info they hacked previously.

Obviously goes without saying don't click on any of the links and definitely dont enter your username/password I'm just concerned about how many people will follow through and enter their info on this site.

If you have, I recommend you quickly get back on the PSN and change it!

UPDATE: These guys are pretty smart. You'll also notice that there are advertised PSN outages today, so most people wont be surprised if they put in their login details, and it doesn't do anything.

While this is certainly an odd-looking email, that address seems pretty legit. The newsletters come from that email. I went back in my email last year and they have used innovyx.net domain as a mass emailer for over a year, and the earliest email I got with PlayStation_Network@playstation-email.com was March 29 of this year, before the hacking, with Terms of Service agreements and every newsletter since then has been from that email.

This was also the email used to send out info ABOUT the downtime earlier this year, and people were freaking out about that as well, but from what I see most decided that it was legit.

Now, I didn't click the links, so take with it what you will. But this isn't a new email, and it's not even new after the hacking.

As far as the content of the email goes, I think the mailer just got lazy. It looks like the header says "outstanding wallet balance" but the text mentions six months. I have an outstanding balance too. Sony probably just told the mailer to send out emails so people might spend more money before Q4 ends.

Disclaimer: I could be wrong, but they've used this before the breach. But in case I am wrong, and a SWAT team comes to your house and kills your wife and children and takes your ps3 hostage, you can't blame me.

I certainly hope it is legit - the fact its in some people PSN inbox would indicate it could be, but its the only site I've ever seen that asks for your PSN information that doesnt use the standard qriocity capture and is using a basic webform on a website.

Lets hope we're all worrying about nothing ;-)

I make purchases on PSN almost every single week and have not received this email. There is always some sort of balance left over on my account, but it's used quite frequently.

I got a couple of e-mails (one on the 15th and one on the 16th -- different e-mail addresses) but I do have a small balance. I already knew it though so I didn't click the link. Thought it was kind of weird that they were saying it was for 6-months since the balance has only been there a couple of weeks but figured it was some sort of generic message. One of the e-mails references an account I haven't purchased anything on but it's on the same system that has the balance so I figured that's why I got the e-mail for it.
