Default Warner's 40th Anniversary edition of Deliverance

According to this:

http://dutchburt.wordpress.com/2012/...f-deliverance/

I heard the existing Blu isn't the best PQ, so hopefully this'll be a new transfer.

I think there are two possibilities:
a. It's a beatiful new transfer
b. It's exactly the same disc as the first release, but in a new packaging (most likely a digibook)

I'm hoping for the first, but I'm afraid it will be the latter.

The current BD doesn't even have lossless audio, but that was also true of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, and Warner's glitzy reissue package didn't conceal the fact that the audio remained lossy. I fear the same will be true of this "new" Deliverance edition. It's probably just going to be a digibook package with maybe one or two added extras.

I predict the same disc content in a "prettier" package.

I cant see Deliverance looking any better than it does now,it was shot on a meager budget in harsh conditions, the current blu however, blows the old 1999 dvd release out of the water.

Great film, but it was a really early blu release....I know for me it was one of the first I ever bought, in early 2008 I think. I rewatched it again in the last year on my large cinemascope screen and I can tell you that it is quite soft and rarely has any nice filmic moments.....transfer wise.

From what I understand, the video transfer is the same in both digi and original release.....and factoring in the digi is a relatively new rerelease (rules out any near future ones if any), I would go for the digibook for the better audio and physical package for a decent price. If I already had the original, I wouldnt upgrade.

Really want to order this digibook but for some reason the postage is so high? I order blu-rays to the UK and Amazon postage is about $4 but for this it's about $15. Is it an Amazon mistake?

Without scrolling back through the thread, can anyone tell me if the PQ and AQ is worth the upgrade from the regular bluray which I already own? Thanks a bunch.

Sad news. From the goofy Otis to Deliverance to the terrifying Tom King in Dying Room Only....he could do it all. He'll be missed

Hopefully Deliverance has a lossless audio track.

Smile 4K Restoration of DELIVERANCE

I think that a 4K restoration of DELIVERANCE on 4K UHD Blu-ray or 1080p Blu-ray would be very amazing for the film's 50th anniversary next year. I'm sure that longtime fans of the film agree with me.

Does this disc have the same purplish-black bars of the 2007 disc that I just watched?

I finally got around to watching the commemorative discussion with all 4 principal cast members for the 40th anniversary. What a special supplement; so glad they all got together for it, especially since 2 of them (Reynolds and Beatty) have since passed on.

I can't believe it's only 30 minutes though...I could have watched those guys chat and reminisce for hours.
