So, I finally upgraded my setup from a 25.5" monitor to a 40" LCD 3.0 setup.
Here's what I got over the weekend: Samsung LN40D630 TechCraft HBL44 TV Stand Yamaha RX-V371 Boston A225C Center Channel Two JBL front speakers The JBLs were given to me by a relative. A link to my gallery is here: https://www.blu-ray.com/community/ga...aUnderTheCurve I like this setup for now. All I need is a subwoofer. But that can wait for a while because those JBLs put off a lot of bass. I'm off to watch my favorite Scorsese flick: Casino. Last edited by AreaUnderTheCurve; 04-01-2018 at 02:56 AM. |

Thanks for the compliments, everyone!
I got the receiver new for less than $180. I've been watching some of my favorite scenes on the setup. Tony Montana's last stand is amazing, even in 3.0 (is it 3.1 if the floor speakers have internal subwoofers?) The chapter "Combat Begins" in The Thin Red Line is even more amazing. The shootout in Heat, which sounded great in lossy audio, is elevated to new heights here. My favorite scene from all of the TF films (the bridge bit in TF3) gave me chills in the theater and when I watched it utilizing headphones. Imagine the same effect happening here. Gandalf's fall in FotR is amazing and I love how clear Shore's score is with the center channel. Last edited by AreaUnderTheCurve; 02-06-2012 at 01:36 AM. |
