That's actually $200 cheaper than apple's price for that model. Seems like a good deal, though I haven't shopped for Macs in almost two years.

Well, I think so. I see that an Amazon Marketplace Vendor has it for $1,999, and Amazon itself has it for about $32 more, which would offer free shipping. If you have Prime, free two day shipping.

From seeing all the specs, it does seem to be the exact same one that Apple is selling for $2,199. Plus you wouldn't pay shipping or taxes on Amazon. Apple does offer student discount if you're a student, so you might want to re-check through the Apple site. Still, I think the Amazon price may be cheaper. It does include a one year warranty, and since Amazon states that it is new, it might be a good idea to purchase Apple Care, which extends your phone support and warranty for three years. It's a good deal--I can personally vouch for that, I've used it before.

I think I would buy it through Amazon--seems like the best way. But again, just re-check all your options to make sure. Hope this helps!

That specific link is from a seller named "game4you". IF you're going to purchase from them, make sure they're an authorized Mac reseller. Even though they state "warranty until 2/19/2013", you have to be careful. The actual price from Amazon themselves is $2,032, I'd rater spend a few dollars more and go with them. You can also try their Prime Membership for a month free and get 2-day shipping for free.

Just keep in mind that new Pros are rumored to be coming very soon. If you're a person who wants the latest and greatest, you might want to wait.

If you don't want to wait, I saw this last week or so (note that some of these prices end today and if you become a member of Apple Insider, you get an extra 3% if you link from their site):
Quote:
A pair of Apple's largest authorized resellers this week are offering a handful of incentives on sales of new Macs that translate to the most aggressive instant savings on MacBook Pros and Mac minis seen so far this year and prior, including a 2.2GHz 17-inch MacBook Pro for $1815 and 2.3GHz Mac mini for $529.

MacBook Pro

In particular, MacMall has initiated steep price cuts on Apple's entire line of February 2011 MacBook Pros, which yield the lowest prices ever seen on such models when combined with the 3% instant discount coupons on all MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs available exclusively to AppleInsider readers.

At the same time, a simultaneous offer that runs through this Friday (Feb 24th) sweetens the pot by throwing in free FedEx 2-Day shipping on all Macs, meaning orders placed today for in-stock items will be in customers' hands by week's end. There are no rebates or additional requirements tied to the deals, so all savings are instantaneously reflected at checkout.

The deals include a 2.7GHz dual 13" MacBook Pro for $1,159.19 ($339.81 savings), a 2.0GHz quad 15" MacBook Pro for $1,503.49 ($295.51 savings), a 2.2GHz quad 15" MacBook Pro for $1,645.03 ($553.97 savings), and a 2.2GHz quad 17" MacBook Pro for $1,814.38 ($684.62 savings).

It's worth noting that these February 2011 MacBook Pros, while heavily discounted, offer only marginal performance tweaks compared to the refreshed MacBook Pros Apple quietly brought to market late last year, which in most cases sport only a 200MHz performance bump to their primary Intel CPU and similar enhancement in the clock speed of their discrete AMD Radeon HD 6700-series graphics processors.

The differences between the models, which are likely to be immaterial to most buyers, can seen and compared on Apple's MacBook Pro Tech Specs support pages.

I usually have a bad tendency to buy it as soon as I can click the buy it now button, lol, but like someone suggested you may want to wait
