Default Paramount tittles?

http://www.dvdtown.com/news/paramoun...next-year/4806

only 30+ hd dvd exclusives from paramount. you gotta figure some of them are The Heartbreak Kid, Stardust, Bee Movie (probably more like C- movie), so we aren't looking at any huge losses. 30 isn't a lot at all, 2 every 3 weeks or something. nothing that blu-ray won't be able to stomp.

Thirty is about what they did for Blu-ray and HD DVD in the past year. So it's essentially more of the same. Which is also sort of what Paramount was like in the early DVD days as well. Not a lot of output but some good key titles along the way.

I'd be tempted by some of them but the lack of advanced audio really turns me away from it.

I'm so pleased that it was Paramount that we lost rather than Disney, WB, 20th Century Fox, or MGM.
Paramount was far and away my least favorite of them all, not counting their Spielberg titles. Which we didn't lose anyway thanks to Mr. Spielberg knowing quality when he sees it.

I think you read that wrong, they said they already have plans for 30+ so far.
Not that's all.

To be fair, it is not 30 titles for next year, it is 30 titles "are already planned for 2008." So it could be at least 30 plus what ever more they plan as the year goes out. But it is not very impressive considering the amount of money that they were paid. You really can not blame them for taking the cash as they won't be making it in sales if they do not release a more titles.

To be fair, paramount blows. Just like HD-DUD. Both have FAILURE written all over them.

Seriously, w/o the Spielberg titles as exclusives they could release 100 discs and it won't amount to a hill of beans. More and more HD DVD owners are getting pissed about the last gen audio also, they're not exactly playing to their crowd and I imagine it has to do double-dipping Blu down the road.

They had to tell the HD boys something to shut them up. After all, Paramount only has 4 more HD releases in 2007.

Would you rather have them close down and have people lose jobs??
It's no big deal how many they put out......I only care about the Star Trek original series...........I have both formats so I can buy anything I want. I'm a huge Bond fan and I wasnt going to limit myself to HD and not be able to get the Bond movies.

Do you think after putting out the Ultimate Bond set that they're eventually going to re-do it in BLU??..........Like Paramount is doing w/the Trek stuff?? I doesnt seem that long ago that they put out those 3 box sets that I have of TOS.

Only 4 movies (none of them remarkable in my estimation). It is more humorous than tick-off-able.

Providing that next year any retailers still want to stock HD-DVD. I honestly don't care one bit, Transformers was only decent in my opinion and for what I would be missing without Blu-ray the HD-DVD camp can have their Transformers.

who care about what a fence sitter says? People like you are just prolonging the war, you're not a true supporter of either format.

Funky,

I'll tell ya what I support........ME. I have stock in Dolby Labs and I got in it when it was $18.64/share last year and today it's @$37.96 so everytime a HD or BD player is made and that DD logo is on it......I make $$$. Who cares if the war is prolonged....is that taking any $$ out of any of our pockets? NO. All we really should be concerned about is how much we enjoy our favorite format. How am I a fence sitter?? I'm not going to eventually choose HD or BD, the market will do that. Right now I'm going to enjoy the best of BOTH worlds while it lasts, I'm not going to limit myself....I'm a true supporter of ME. Paramount or Fox, or Warner or Disney is not putting any $$ in my pocket. They're taking it and if I want to buy stuff from both sides it shouldnt bother you in the least.
Name calling like you're doing smacks of ignorance and I dont think you're guilty of that.

Steve
