Lightbulb How to clean a Plasma TV

So i've noticed some smudges on my plasma screen (Damn cat ) and would like to know the absolute best (and safest) way to clean them off? Should I buy a TV cleaning product? can I use anything I'd already have? And anything else people can think of!

Hi,
May i ask what brand your plasma tv is ? Since some members here have complained that by cleaning their samsung plasma with mild damp cloth with mild soap solution has resulted in either pealing of the anti reflective coating or patches appearing in the finish of the plasma panel.
But i use white hand kerchief which is slightly damp..i.e the cloth on the verge of drying completely. Then i use the soft yellow cloth that we use in cars to wipe the windshield clean. My plasma tv is from panasonic and iam doing this every now & then.Since my 3 year old son keep touching the screen with his hands, just after taking his food.
Till now i do not have any problem doing so.But using cleaners or chemical based detergents could have ill effects to the anti-glare coating which is used more commonly in most modern plasma tv's.And do not press or exert pressure on the screen, mostly the middle section, they may at times crack.I had seen that happen in one of the youtube videos !

love,
kris.

A high quality microfiber cloth + distilled water.

And "mist" the water on to the cloth, not on to the screen directly.

In cases of heavy dust buildup, I'd blast away the dust first before cleaning with some "canned air".

Whatever you do, don't use iKlear! I used it and it left smudge all over the place.

That is how I have always cleaned my plasmas, even in dusty rooms. Never use some of the cheaper microfiber clothes, the fibers are too coarse most of the time. The best would be to use the ones made to clean lenses.

Well I looked a little further at the different options available. However, I happen to be very environmentally minded and I have guests over a lot, so the ecomoist does a great job for me. It comes with a microfibre towel and it is hypoallergenic. No streaks! Little to no smell. I used it last night after I went shopping after I saw this thread to clean my lg tv and it was great. To see what I am talking about, I embedded the product in my post.

Default Be Careful

I have a Samsung plasma I haven't used for a while. I also have a Vizio E Series.
I found I didn't have to clean my plasma screen because nothing seems to stick to it anyway, including normal dust particles. A dry microcloth lightly passed over it does the job.

I used screen cleaner on a Samsung LCD years ago. It worked. But on my Vizio LCD, it caused a smudge I can't get rid of, in the area where I tested it.

It doesn't affect the viewing quality but there is still a big ugly smudge when the lights are on. I can't get rid of it. Nothing helps. Fortunately my Vizio is in a dark room day and night.

Test a small area first.
