United Kingdom Total Recall (1990)

Total Recall (Triple Play) Blu-ray

Total Recall Blu-ray Review

I won't lie, I wanted to re-post this because as of today, the film itself is now a '15' certificate. This just proves again that the '15' is getting a scarily wide berth from the BBFC now (like [the] Cabin in the Woods EDIT: Redacted remake), especially vis-a-vie violence and gore.

There is an article in their centenary series discussing rating decisions on the BBFC website for Total Recall. Even at release some of the assessors felt it was a very high 15 rather than 18.

With Terminator 2 reduced a few years ago makes sense for this as well.

Just so long as they don't edit the film to get said '15' rating.

The BBFC page says it was passed uncut, so we shouldn't be worried, unless they're using an older cut version of the film.

Is the triple play a steelbook? This site doesn't say it is, neither does Amazon. HMV says steelbook though...

And interestingly, in that opening BBFC article, dated 3 May 2012:

Quote:
Total Recall was released in 1990 with an 18 certificate, and remains an 18 on DVD...

Well, The Godfather came down from an 18 too, so for a few titles it certainly seems to be the trend.

The Film has been reclassified a 15 certificate. They haven't put through the home video version yet (I think they need separate entries), so it looks like Recall will get a limited theatrical run next month?

If its been knocked down to a 15, then Verhoven needs to dig out the "X" rated cut that he had rejected back in 1990.

I have

It would be nice it the rating was stuck on. I've seen that before in the uk. Maybe ratings could be on an outer cardboard slip.

I had thought it was (I only saw it because I had free time waiting for a showing of the film I had intended to see), but after checking around, it appears to be an original movie. I have amended the post.

I used to always want the latest edition to my fave movies and new packaging but cant afford to re-buy anymore.Aslong i've got the best transfer available that's the most important thing.

Update : oh ok just read the DVD active review and realised it's a new transfer Hmmm still a bit expensive though at £16.99 .Saying not a huge upgrade so will wait for price to come down.

It won't take long... Most StudioCanal movies seem to be £6 within 6 months
